We booked our table a month in advance but when we got there on Friday 26th June we were told they can't find our booking on the system. They took a photo of my booking confirmation but still couldn't find it. After half an hour of faffinf around they sat us on a table that wasn't big enough for my group, when I told them the table wasn't big enough, they made half my group wait standing up and then sat them on an adjacenent table and told us we couln't put the two tables together. This was not a good solution as the table was so far away that we couldn't even talk to our friends. The incredibly rude waitress told us in future we need to make sure we book even though I had evidence of booking on my phone.
I asked if we could be moved to another table that I had spotted which was empty and would've fit us nicely. They said no as it had been booked so we ordered food to our current table. After half an hour they finally moved us to that same table, I informed the waiter that I had ordered food to our previous table and he said he would bring it over to our new table. Another half an hour later our food finally arrived by the same rude waitress who told me I should order to the correct table. I told her I had ordered the food while we were sat at the other table and she didn't even apologise, just looked at me.
Half of the staff weren't wearing masks despite the pandemic and one waiter whilst talking to me, almost dropped a huge amount of spit onto my friend which is not only disgusting but a huge health and safety concern during the current situation.
Overall it was a terrible experience with piss poor management, rude servers and they don't even follow the health and safety guidelines. I would make a formal complaint but judging by responses to the other reviews it seems as though all Tamesis Dock is capable of doing is begging for another chance whilst making no effort to resolve any of the issues. I will be looking into reporting Tamesis Dock for non-compliance of Government...
Read moreI came here on my first day in London, and stayed across the street in a hotel from this interesting restaurant, and was determined to be the typical tourist and do the whole fish n chips experience. The weather was not on my side, although it was sunny it was very chilly and windy, but I 'boarded' this floating restaurant/ship eager to try their menu and knew immediately I was not going to be brave and sit outside like others, so inside I went. It's a bit of maze or steps and turns to get in, but I sat down and then realized 'ohhh nobody waits on you here..got it' so I lost my table because I went to the counter, and didn't want to leave my items/purse, coat etc. unattended, so be aware you need to order before sitting. As far as food quality it was okay, I've had better fish and chips in the US/Canada then here, I know gasp, the irony, it was just okay. Nobody was overly friendly but absolutely not rude at all, just nothing that gave me the feeling they wanted or needed my business, perhaps the regulars and locals feel differently. I don't know 'pounds' and it was my first day in London so I wasn't sure if this place was pricey or not. Also, when I wanted another beer while eating my meal, I didn't know if I had to bring my plate and my stuff to get back up to order a beer because nobody was around asking if anything was needed, how weird would that look carrying my table back to the counter to get a beer? I stayed for a week in London and even tho this place was convenient to go back to, I didn't return.,...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a hole-in-the-wall experience with a twist, Tamesis Dock is a hole in the water—a moored ship-turned-pub with killer views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. It’s got that quirky, offbeat London vibe that instantly makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special.
The food? Very good, though not quite “wow” status. The pizzas are solid, and the Aperol Spritz seems to be the local hero. Beer lovers will appreciate the variety, and the cocktail crowd is well cared for, too.
The atmosphere is hands down amazing—especially at sunset. You’re literally sipping your drink on the Thames with Parliament in view. It doesn’t get much more “London” than that.
However, on our second visit the same day (yes, we liked it enough to come back!)—things got a bit awkward. A local promoter told us we needed tickets for a live event, even though we’d been welcomed in, seated, and served food by the staff and owner. As tourists, we had no clue a show was scheduled or that entry was restricted. It left us feeling a bit out of place. That said, we made the best of it and still enjoyed our time.
Pro tip: Check the schedule before your visit to avoid surprise ticketed events, especially in the evening.
In short: Tamesis Dock is absolutely worth adding to your list of offbeat London finds. Great vibes, unique setting, and fun energy—even if the service and communication could be a touch more tourist-friendly. Come for the views, stay for the spritz… and maybe double-check the door...
