First time visiting Tasty last week as I was looking for a caterer for my baby shower but unfortunately I will definitely not be trying this branch again - overall disappointed with the poor customer service, the fact that 3 pieces of plantain cost £1, and the lack of politeness from the staff member who served me. When I arrived at the shop, there was one woman serving a gentleman in front of me, and she seemed pleasant enough. The man had ordered a container of jollof rice among other items, but there was not enough rice left in the heaters to fill the container, so the woman serving went round the back to bring out more rice. Another woman then came out from the back and asked me what I wanted to order. I asked for jollof rice, and she proceeded to pick up the half-empty container of jollof that was part of the order the first woman serving had set aside for the man in front of me. I said to her "that is part of his order" nodding to the man in front of me, and she snapped back "it doesn't matter", and proceeded to put a lid on the container. I then said "excuse me but that container is nowhere near full, that's why your other colleague has gone to get more rice in order to complete this man's order" to which she replied "oh, you wanted more rice?" and took off the lid and proceeded to fill it up. I then said I would pay by card and she said "it's £5 minimum". My container of rice had only come to £4 so I then asked what I could add to make it up to £5, to which she responded "I don't know, the menu is there" and she motioned to the wall. I ended up getting 3 slices of plantain for £1 (what a rip off!) on top of my rice in order to pay for it by card. Not a nice experience at all, and put me off of the meal altogether. (Sidenote: there is a lovely Caribbean takeaway 2 doors down called Stoney Island where you can get a container of fried plantain (with about 7-10 pieces) for £1! Also they are polite, say please and thank you, and even give their customers a smile! Something the Tasty staff could...
Read moreNo doubt this is the only well known African Restaurant in Stratford E15. My problem with the Restaurant is lack of facilities for the staff, for instance the restaurant will use the same telephone line for their card transactions and telephone orders - This is simply stupid! It is about time that the Management should send some of their staff to a Chinese Restaurant to learn how best to manage a fast food restaurant and how to effectively put technology into use in 2015. For instance each time you call Tasty, the girls want your telephone number, your address and your post code, it does not matter how many times or how long you have been ordering from the Restaurant. Finally, the Restaurant could employ more delivery drivers to deliver orders to businesses around Staratford and not relying on Sam and his motorbike all the time. - Otherwise, Tasty could evolve into one of the best Restaurants for business and telephone orders in Stratford. I hope the Management are listening! Your staff are trying their best they need your support and training. ...
Read moreUpdate to my previous review: I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Gifty at Tasty African Food in Stratford, and I can confidently say she turned a regular food stop into a memorable experience. From the moment I walked in, her warm smile and polite greeting made me feel genuinely welcome; a rare quality that instantly stood out. When I mentioned I was travelling and raised a concern about my bag being too small for the food I bought, Gifty went above and beyond. She didn’t just acknowledge my concern. she offered to help, took the time to expertly box and pack everything, and ensured my food was travel-ready with so much care and consideration. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail left such a strong impression that I called the restaurant while on my train home just to ask for her name so I could leave this review. Gifty, your service was outstanding, and it truly deserves to be celebrated. Thank you for going the extra mile. The world needs more...
