I recently visited Taverna In The Park in London, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! Nestled in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the setting is relaxed and perfect for grabbing a bite after a walk.

I ordered the halloumi souvlaki wrap, and it was packed with flavor—perfectly grilled halloumi with a slight crisp on the outside, fresh salad, and a deliciously creamy sauce, all wrapped in warm pita. The skin-on fries were crispy and well-seasoned, making them the perfect side.

The staff was friendly, and service was quick despite a steady stream of customers. The homemade lemonade was also a highlight—refreshing and not too sweet.

Staff moved at a glacial pace. Comedically slow service to the point I was convinced it was a hidden camera show. Absolutely no forward planning as they were making individual wraps to order rather than batch cooking to speed everything along during a busy period. Queued for 1 hour, waited at the top of the queue for 10 minutes before the order was even taken and waited a further 20 minutes for food. They didn’t tell us it would be a 20-30 minute wait until after we had paid. In the end it was closer to 40. Service was incredibly slow and inefficient- no sense of urgency among the two guys working that day. They also messed up the order of other customers in front of us, and completely forgot about one of them, which meant our order took longer.
