I recently visited Teatro Hall with high expectations, drawn in by its impressive decor and promising bottomless brunch experience. While aspects of our visit were initially enjoyable, the behavior of the manager, Vlad, completely soured our experience and left us feeling deeply disappointed.
The venue itself boasts a stunning decor that sets an inviting ambiance for guests. However, the standout of the evening was our waiter, Fabio, who greeted us warmly and built a genuine rapport throughout our visit. His attentive and friendly service truly made the night memorable.
The food at Teatro Hall was undoubtedly delicious, and the bottomless brunch concept had the potential to be a delightful experience. It allowed guests to indulge in unlimited drinks while enjoying a variety of delectable dishes. Unfortunately, any positive aspects were overshadowed by the abysmal treatment we received from the manager.
Our ordeal began when the wrong food was brought to our table. Instead of addressing the mistake with professionalism and working to rectify it, Vlad's demeanor was shockingly hostile. To make matters worse, he even had the audacity to demand additional payment for the food we had initially ordered but never received. His dismissive and confrontational attitude was completely unwarranted.
Adding insult to injury, despite our group paying an extra £25 as a service charge, Vlad rushed us out to accommodate a private booking. His demeanor was nothing short of rude, vile, and dismissive. It was evident that he couldn't care less about our dissatisfaction or the negative impact it had on our overall experience. Regrettably, this incident not only tarnished our visit but also left a negative impression on other guests and the hardworking staff.
My hope was to have a positive and memorable dining experience at Teatro Hall, but unfortunately, the actions of one individual overshadowed everything else. As paying customers, we deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, which was sorely lacking in Vlad's conduct.
In light of this deeply disappointing experience, I strongly urge Teatro Hall to address this issue promptly and take necessary measures to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future. It is essential to uphold the values of customer service and create an atmosphere where patrons feel valued and respected.
In conclusion, my overall impression of Teatro Hall was marred by the manager's behavior, resulting in an extremely disheartening visit. I sincerely hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and strives to improve their service standards for the sake of...
Read moreWe've been waiting a very long time for the former Empire cinema, opened in 1934 and closed in 2008, to come back fully to life. We were promised not only an 8-screen Picturehouse but also shops and affordable housing. The facade of the cinema has been beautifully restored and some of the flats are occupied. But financial problems have prevented the opening of the new screens. A big plus, however, is the recently opened Teatro in what would have been the old Empire foyer. The interior design is mostly luxurious, with many deco features. I thought the exposed pipework on the ceiling didn't match, but I was told that this was to encourage a more casual clientele - no need to dress up as if you're going to a film premiere. The space is huge and we were given a booth. We felt like starting with a cocktail, which must be the speciality of the house. My companion's Margarita was deliciously tart and my Espresso Martini almost a meal in itself. "Surprise us with our starters", we told friendly waiter Vlad. We shared three balls of Mushroom and truffle arancini, served with salsa di noci, and a plate of fried aubergine with stracciatella, lemon, mint and chilli. It was my introduction to arancini, a Sicilian staple, and I loved it. The aubergine was also perfectly paired with the stracciatella cheese. For his main, my companion chose the creamy Top Truffle Tagliatelli with mushrooms and shallots and before I knew it he had wiped his dish clean. Meanwhile I spent more time on my buttermilk fried chicken with salad, a really filling dish - so filling I couldn't cope with a dessert. Instead we had a couple of double Amarettos. During the meal we had the house white (£26) in a carafe cooler. We had a great evening. All our waiters - and I'm including Adam and Sally - were charming and helpful, and the ambience is great. There have been complaints here about loud music but that certainly wasn't the case when we visited on a Tuesday evening. Vlad pointed out the distillery next to our table. It looks like Frankenstein's laboratory! A nice touch. We're going to return with more friends. There are plenty of restaurants in the area but I think only Teatro has got all the factors - acceptable food and drink, good service, delightful surroundings...
Read moreI want to preface by saying I think this place has potential. It's a really aesthetic venue and it's clear that staff want it to be successful and succeed. I hope this is taken as constructive, because I'd really like to come back here in the future and it be a great restaurant.
Food - all came out one by one with a few minutes gap inbetween, normally the sign of a kitchen that struggles ensuring dishes are ready at the same time.
Pizza: The Pizza was ok, not terrible but not amazing. You have an amazing coal oven that could make incredible pizzas, the formula is just a bit off.
Play to the strength of the oven and look at reducing the hydration in your dough a little, the base was really good and thin, but it was a little bready - I'd recommend seeing if you can cold-ferment your dough and aim for a lower hydration % than what you have at the moment. I'd also recommend making your own sauce and just using pulped tomatos as it seems the sauce you have at the moment is cooked. The chefs meatballs on the pizza tasted mostly of bread and needs reviewing.
Pasta: These were a disaster and all overcooked and served in cramped bowls that meant they would've continued cooking as they were brought out. The truffle tagiatelle didn't taste of truffle at all, and had an overwhelming taste of fried onion and an unknown sauce. Very odd.
The spicy sausage pasta was inedible - just tasteless despite it being such a classic italian dish. The underlying tomato sauce was again bland and watery and even the sausage didn't really taste of anything - again, it could've been amazing but needs an overhaul.
Drinks were ok, the Gin drinks should be half the size with a proper tonic. The tonic served is flat and doesn't compliment, what may have been good gins - it's impossible to tell.
There staff did their best and you could tell they've been getting similar abuse from customers about the food. We were well looked after and pasta not charged, but again it was clear lots of the staff have not worked in a restaurant or bar before and need...
