This is about an incredibly disappointing experience my family and I had at the Aztec Temple Restaurant at Chessington Aztec Hotel on the evening of 11th April. When we arrived, there was no staff at the check-in kiosk. After several minutes of waiting and searching, we finally found someone to check us in. Despite the chaos, we were asked to pay approx. £100 UPFRONT, even before being seated. Just minutes later after being seated, we were told by a staff member that the restaurant was closing - despite having just been seated and having paid full price. There had been no prior warning at the time of payment that the buffet would close imminently.
The food options were limited and poor. The starters included just two options: a Thai-style poppadum and a bland savory pastry. The salad bar featured limp vegetables and stale beans - certainly not worthy of the price that seemed extortionate. It was clear the buffet had already begun winding down before we even arrived, yet we were still charged full price.
When we raised the issue, the manager assured us we could take our time and that the restaurant would stay open for us to finish. However, just minutes later, another staff member contradicted this, reminding us again the restaurant was closing. This back-and-forth left us feeling rushed, nagged, and incredibly uncomfortable. To make matters worse, both I and my child experienced digestive discomfort and acidity later that evening - undoubtedly caused by being rushed into eating substandard food under pressure.
What should have been a relaxed family meal turned into a stressful, overpriced, and physically uncomfortable experience. I formally escalated the complaint the next morning (12th April), while still at the resort, but no one from the team contacted us during the remainder of our stay.
The response we later received was dismissive - suggesting the matter could only be handled at the time, despite us raising it in real time. We have been offered a 20% discount for a future visit which is both inadequate and impractical, as we clearly mentioned that we have no intention of returning.
We feel misled, let down, and ignored. Guests deserve better communication, respect, and value for...
Read moreWe took my daughter to Chessington for the Zootastic weekend on the 12th and 13th February we book dinner for 6.30pm at the Temple restaurant and it was the worst buffet/food we ever had, firstly the food was cold and hard (roast dinner buffet) the temperature wasn't checked at all on the food, having paid £54.85 for the 3 of us it was like having poor cafe food. The staff were unprofessional poorly trained they took our refillable cups while we went to get desert (it's a buffet ensure people are finishe) I told the lady who couldn't talk English and she called her colleague over I explained again and she went off and got us drinks. To my horror they grouped by our table talking and giggling in their own language we felt so uncomfortable and got up and left. The following morning we went for breakfast thinking it would be better but no food was cold sausages were hard, bacon cold, beans and eggs were cold we then just opted for fruit and toast and went to the park to eat. I complained to reception who gave me an email to write my complaint to and she said she would talk to the restaurant manager. Anyway today I got a response to my email offering us £15 pounds vouchers as compensation, this in my eyes is an insult. I forgot to mention the roast dinner was so dry it broke the filling in my tooth. I've replied rejecting their offer as this isn't a one off just look at the same reviews on Trustpilot. Can someone from senior management please reach out to me...
Read moreTry the beef curry it's amazing and the kids loved their choices. The young chaps that booked us in ( reservations were on line) checked we were okay with the allergen menu.
The theming was great too but not to in your face. Think rainforest without the Ott thunderclaps.
The chefs were informative and the chap who was cleaning the area never stopped moving. Set up for social distancing and although busy we were not made to feel rushed.
You can go to the buffet as many times as you like and the chap doing the ice cream managed really well.
With 20 percent off with a merlin card I thought this was excellent value for a 'hotel meal'.
Keeping two picky eaters and one dietary need person happy is not that easy but we should sleep well and after mobile ordering the vodka it's...
