Ate out after a long time and was disappointed. The place is cramped and you can literally over hear conversations as people are just next to you.
I am a vegetarian and we don’t include egg as a vegetarian dish. People often confuse me with vegan, but a little research and awareness won’t hurt someone And especially if you run a restaurant with so many allergy prone ingredients you must read up about different countries and their food culture.
So, I ordered a veg Papaya Salad- which the server informed on my asking what is the difference he said the non veg has fish sauce. I said yes, veg only no fish. Then I ordered a vegetarian pad thai which had egg in it. Now I am ordering a veg dish trusting it doesn’t have meat or produce from Animals turned out my Pad Thai had egg in it. It was a mutual fault, I agree. But the way he got defensive really irked me. Worst, he was so grumpy that when we got the veg pad thai without egg, it didn’t have any peanut dressing no sauce just boiled rice noodles with veggies. To see the difference see the picture attached of the one with egg and one without. To add to this I obviously refused to pay the service charge and he asked me why I said cause of the egg. And he very loudly told his manager she doesn’t want to pay the service charge. The surrounding customers were looking at me and it made me feel uncomfortable. The Manager on the contrary was sweet and understanding. When you work or service in a restaurant you need to be friendly as you chose a customer facing role. A grumpy and rude behaviour just kills the vibe! The papaya Salad was...
Read moreIf you are Asian and very familiar with the authentic taste of Thai food and want an authentic thai meal, then you can forget about this place.
It may look thai, but the food clearly is far from its claim.
The Tong Yam Goong soup tastes more like a spicy prawn soup with no or little flavor from its name. My friend who ordered this said, "it's the worst I've ever had so far."
The pad thai I had was basically just egg stir-fried prawn noodles, and it also missing that authentic PadThai taste. The prawns were fresh but that's it.
If you are expecting thai basil chicken dish to go with rice, be prepared to see a plate of sliced chicken meat cooked with red capsicum and onions. Big lacking in the basil aroma or taste and was surprised they didn't minced the meat.
The thai square fried rice, basically unsure why the name. It was really below average that my friend who ordered it stopped eating it after a few spoons.
The green curry was 100% green, but it lacks the thai authentic green curry flavor it should carry. Ordered 2 (prawn and chicken) both were nah....... regret why we ordered 2!
The drunken noodle was super oily, and the taste of the noodle was really way below average.
Do note that the Thai Milk tea came with 80% ice in a super slim glass. The amount of thai milk tea plus the ice was probably 180ml at max. It was so slim that it was gone in just a few sip from the time it landed on the table.
Conclusion: Not worth trying Not authentic Not worth the...
Read moreI forgot the dish name but it's similar to Khao Man Gin. I recommend it because the buttered chicken was one of the best chickens I have tried.
When the chicken is paired with the sweet sauce, the combination of flavors is truly delightful, as the richness of the chicken blends perfectly with the sweetness of the sauce. But you don't have to mix them if you don't want to.
I also appreciated the presentation of the dish, which was thoughtfully and beautifully arranged. The inclusion of ginger-infused rice added a unique touch; its subtle, medicinal notes provided an intriguing and enjoyable contrast to the other flavors. Overall, I found this dish to be exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed every element of it.
Peachy, the waitress, initially appeared quite serious, but when I complimented the dish and told her how much I enjoyed it, her demeanor transformed into a radiant and cheerful expression. This change made me realize how deeply she valued the recognition of her efforts. It was evident that the hard work of the entire team was acknowledged and appreciated, which gave me a sense of fulfillment. I truly felt that the experience was meaningful and worthwhile. So, keep smiling Peachy. Well done to Thai Square at South...
