We approached this with an open mind considering the mixed reviews on both the food and the staff. Our experience was mixed. We were seated within 3 minutes outside with the blankets and heating mentioned in attendance. Our server was certainly not hovering but we didn't need to wait too long for service although there was very little engagement. Our starters were the Battata Harrara and Fakoush salad. The salad was excellent and a real highlight. The potatoes, whilst very well cooked did not have enough of the chopped herb and spice sauce. What there was tasted wonderful but it needed more otherwise just really well cooked "pomme fritte". We ordered the lemonade drinks. I had the pomegranate and orange blossom one which took a few sips to appreciate but enjoyed it. My wife ordered the apple, mint and ginger which was sublime (although neither of us could pick up any ginger). The vegetarian main courses were disappointing. Wife ordered something described as flat bread with halloumi cheese and spices that included a salad. It came basically as an oily pizza which we both found bland with salt being the main taste. The salad that accompanies this was again very good. My aubergine moussaka was what I would term calorifically dense with the generous helping of houmous and olive oil but was definitely lacking in flavour. It is almost as if the Lebanese dishes with the expected herbs and spices have been anglicised to the point of being houmous with things thrown in. We thought this would make a tasty change to our usual Thai but was overall a little lacking. The salads and drinks were excellent but the vegetarian mains bland. Service was acceptable. We would give it another try and ask for additional spices but will probably try Edgeware Road to scratch the Lebanese itch.

I recently visited Comptoir Libanais with my family, and while there were some positives, overall the experience was a bit disappointing. When we first arrived, we stood outside the entrance expecting to be welcomed in, but at least three different waiters walked straight past us without even acknowledging we were there. Eventually, we decided to walk inside ourselves, where we were greeted and shown to a table. The restaurant itself has a cozy, inviting ambience and is nicely decorated, with lots of little details to look at. We ordered the chicken shawarma and lamb kofta rice meals, along with hummus and fries for the kids (who had already eaten earlier). When our mains arrived, both of us were quite surprised at the portion size, especially considering the price of each dish. The taste was reasonable, but the meals felt more like children’s portions than adult ones. For everything we ordered, plus two cans of drink and a 12.5% service charge, the bill came to £60. As someone else has written in their review, you can definitely find better meals and better value for money elsewhere. We raised our concern about the portion sizes with the manager, and while they did allow us to remove the service charge and offered complimentary baklava (which we declined), it didn’t change our overall impression. In short, while the setting is pleasant, the lack of initial welcome and the poor value for money make it unlikely we would return. Please reconsider either charging less or increasing the portion size.

Comptoir Libanais is the perfect place to have a quick Lebanese dinner before or after (depending on the length of the concert) a visit to Royal Albert Hall. Within the two weeks of my London summer holiday I ate there five times and was never disappointed. Don't expect any flights of gourmet fancy - just solid Middle Eastern food - and you'll be happy. Prices here are very competitive: a decent Mezze platter will cost you 10 UKP, almost a steal considering the competition in this popular residential area. The outside seating area is frugal but appealing - the inside quite as frugal, but not quite as appealing. You will have to wait in the queue to be seated, but if you're a single traveller or just two or three people you will be pointed to a table within ten minutes max. It is a popular place though - tables during peak hours (early evening in particular) will always be occupied. Later in the evening, the outside seating will close (after about 9 pm). Staff are usually very nice and welcoming - not a given at London restaurants, I can tell 'ya! I had the Mezze platter (twice), the mixed grill (twice), and the roasted half-chicken (nicely spiced), and they were all of decent quality and served reasonably quickly. I can't recommend the Middle Eastern beers, but the freshly made lemonades are certainly a good alternative. There are several small restaurants along this part of Exhibition Road. Comptoir Libanais is your best option.

AVOID!! BEWARE!! Went with my family and my guy was telling me to walk out as the restraint was empty dispute every single reaturant near by being Jan packed

Ordered the mix grill for 2 as a starter and when it came the portion was so tiny it looked like a portion for a 5 year old but yeah no big deal... tried the food and iwas disgusting.. the kofta was okay but the chicken was absolutely disgusting and I mean nasty.. You could tell it was not fresh justh re heated and had that uncooked raw chicken taste.

how can you serve this to people? My wife asked the manager if he could replace it and he said NO. I kept my cool as I don't want to kick up a fuss but I have never had tastes such nasty food in my life in any restaraunt in London.

the food smelt very very bad.. like it was rotten. also when my wife asked the bald manager if he could replace that smelly chicken he had a very bad smell in his breathe I had to cover my nose and his breathe smelled like urine.. literally. please get him to chew some gum and brush his teeth please.

Only good thing about this place was the African waitor who was fruendly and nice but you can tell the bald manager with the bad breathe treats him very bad.. he seemed very afraid and scared of the manager.

please have a look at my other reviews.. I never give bad reviews and this is one of the very rare occasions..

I would rate this place ZERO if I was able to.. no wonder if is empty

Smelly reheated food.. if you want quality food...
