We visited for Sunday lunch with family. This is a great pub with super friendly staff who make you feel more than welcome. We were looking a bit tight on our table and without prompting they offered us a bigger one. They don't just have a creche they have a craft creche so our associated 5 yrs old was able to make a mask and a pirate picture/telescope in between joining us for lunch and drinks.
Oh and among other quality drinks they sell Sea Cider, not the Blood Orange variety but nevertheless a delicious tipple I recommend you try if you visit.
The food was perfectly delicious my chicken leg was probably the best cooked chicken I've had in such an establishment this year. Soft tender and perfectly cooked, arrayed on a huge mound of well cooked veg with a huge dollop of the finest bread sauce I've ever had (Don't tell my Mum I said that).
Everyone else enjoyed their grub too even the 12 week old baby although she was breast feeding so perhaps that was more of a sure thing.
I highly recommend this den of luncheons although it's excellence is clearly no secret as there were would be diners who could not get a table and left sad and unreplenished. I recommend booking, bribing or otherwise ensuring your seat before heading...
Read moreI went fir a steak yesterday but was very disappointed in the quality and taste of the (ribeye steak) It was at least 30 % fat, the meat was very chewy and thus did not taste like a decent quality of steak or even if it was a rib eye?
There was no discernable seasoning and a somewhat bland taste.
When I expressed my concern to the female member of staff, she was very unhelpful and her reply when I pointed to the large amount of fat I had cut off the steak
She replied "well you ate the rest of the steak"!
The rest of the dish was bairly acceptable and the juice from the steak was covering the plate, thus making everything and the bairly cooked chips soggy ( generally cooked beef is allowed to sit for a short while before serving!)!
I gave been going to this pub since I for many years, the manager /owner myself and my family km W very well this was the worst food I have eaten at the Alliance!!!

Read moreI had lunch with a few friends on Saturday and it was a very good experience. The food was the one you typically find in a pub (burger, fish&chips, etc) with a couple of more researched dishes that gave the menu a bit of a kick. I had the burger that was really tasty, my daughter loved the brunch with a full English breakfast and I tried my wife's "parmigiana" and it was well balanced and enjoyable. More importantly, the pub management changed recently and everyone was super friendly and very attentive (I have been a few times in the past and this is the norm rather than an exception). The place is large and it is generally not as crowded as other close pubs on West End Lane and this alone is the reason why I tend to prefer The Alliance to any other pub in West Hampstead. I highly recommend trying it, and I'll certainly return...
