Alex Plaice Fish & Chips — Local services in London

I brought 9 Italian students into this place to have their first 'Fish and Chips' experience. After walking around London for 12 hours we were absolutely exhausted and starving. 1 guy helped us at the counter with our orders offering a very reasonable price for Cod and chips, 1 drink at 10 pounds each. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was excellent. Obviously, having 9 students to feed, the kids and I were very hands on. The kids were passed their drinks and cutlery from over the counter, I passed the plates around, I got them ketchup and mayonnaise from the counter. Everything was very spontaneous, (we weren't in a restaurant! ) I paid by credit card and a chubby guy (I think the cook) was beaming, very pleased with himself while asking me if everyone was pleased with the meal . I complimented him and said we would be back the next evening to try his other dishes. Within 5 minutes of leaving the place I got a review on my phone " thanks for the tip!" With a thumbs up ! I was flabbergasted! I'm normally very good with giving tips, but this time it hadn't even passed my mind. Who should I have given a tip? And why? For the dirty plates we left behind? ( Maybe) for not saying enough thank yous ?? I really don't know what to say? We would have gone back there for the rest of our holiday and yes, he would have eventually got a tip, ( they all would have) but now he's blown it !! Obviously, we're never going back! Why do people demand a tip for doing nothing? The guy obviously isn't a very good business man, doesn't he know of all the competitive businesses there are in his Street? All for a miserly tip. Well, thumbs up to you now sir!...

I am a regular who gets take aways from there regularly for work almost every weekend (work) for the past 2 years. It's usually quite a wait which i have understood but today was a whole different level...went in asked for my order and been told to wait outside untill i'll i'l a shout from the guy with grey hair. I have waited for nearly half an hour and nothing. I went in to remind them and none of the 3 guys knew about my order. Made to wait another couple of mins. Alex, i i hope u are happy now that u almost surely lost a couple of orders weekly. Honestly, it's not worth iy for just some regular fish, chips.... Do Avoid, if u care about respect...

Finally found a decent chippy in Nw6! Great portion and fresh yesterday. Friendly staff...

Because of yesterday, I went again in the pouring rain tonight after work mins after 2200. I got a rude reception when entering the shop by a member of staff moaning about he just finished mop the floor. I told him I googled before I came all this way to buy food, it says it shuts at 11 online. Another man came from the back to apologise to me, whilst the rude one already turned his back and walked off.
