As a local, had been going to this place regularly until some bizarre rude service from one of the staff (or is it even the owner?). I'd asked one of the staff politely if when they were less busy, if they could get the deck chairs out that are usually on the grass area, before the person I asked could even respond, the tall bearded man who's always unpleasant shouted over to me, across several customers "No! We are not going to do that okay" and then over to his colleague "No, You're not going to do that." I used their instagram account to then alert to this incident and the message was seen, but then ignored (despite their insta staying this is a space to improve customer experience). I sent a follow up message, again it was seen and not responded to. My conclusion is there are other places to drink nice coffee in East London and if you're lucky, you actually get served by people who don't talk to you like you're trash under...

It may seem like a small thing not worth complaining about, I get it. In most circumstances, I wouldn't eat my own food. But I'm broke, coffee is a little luxury of mine, and I need to pre-pack my meals every day. It could be a dietary thing too. Before I had a chance to explain this, he walked off. I went to eat outside, embarrassed. I only asked out of British politeness, and if the answer was a bit more professional I wouldn't feel so offended.
It really didn't feel like a community hub after this encounter at all. It felt very for-profit. I think the brand messaging needs a tweak. After a long, tiring week, I think this really just hit a...
Read moreThe great vibe of this place could be felt as soon as you closed the door behind you and took a seat. It might look a bit cosy but there is extra space available downstairs and a shelve full of books (my weakness though I didn’t know about it till it was very late and was on my way out ). The staff is extremely friendly and nice. I had the soup of the day with black coffee . If I didn’t have other plans, I could have sat there for more time trying the other delicacies of the cafe . They also do a great offer for Pod space if you want to work ..coffee and cake is priced in the deal for use of the space. The social cause adds to the feel good factor of this place. Worth a visit for all you coffee lovers as well as the ones behind great social initiatives ..a...
