We are visiting from the US and thought it was the perfect day to visit Kew Gardens while here in the UK. After a long day of walking we were starving and walked just a short couple of blocks to the Botanist on Kew Green. We are SO glad that we chose this restaurant to eat at because it was seriously our favorite meal while visiting. Everything tasted absolutely fresh and was beyond delicious. I got the calamari and falafel to snack on as my meal, the calamari was incredible and the falafel was so flavorful. Everyone was beyond kind and welcoming and both my boyfriend and I were really impressed with the quality, portion, and taste! It was also extremely trendy and classy and completely tied into our time in the gardens. Couldn’t have been a better end to our day. We will definitely be coming back here and spreading the word!

It's a good job the food here is excellent as the service was not up to scratch at all. orders were made at the bar but staff who should have still come to offer some basic service such as clearing dishes or providing condiments were absent throughout our booking. They all seemed like they had no interest in being there Items were delivered to the table using a different name to the menu causing confusion (roasted celeriac was called a vegetarian steak) and the waiter made us feel stupid for not understanding what he meant even though he was using a different name to the menu. Another member of waiting staff while clearing a now vacant table adjacent to us dropped 2 items on the floor spilling the contents of the pots on the floor and instead of stopping to retrieve these items he just carried on walking to the bar area. thinking he would return to clear up but he didn't. The dropped items remained on the floor for at least 10 mins when a female server spotted one of the items and picked it up. The spilled contents and other item remaining on the floor until we left. Something that casts doubt on overall hygiene of the place. As I said the food was very good and we all had different dishes that were great but instead of being a 5 star establishment it's barely a 3. it's also £7.50 a pint of goose which is insane and has to be one of the most expensive pints in the borough. Def room for improvement.

Not a great experience I'm afraid! Six of us booked for lunch before heading to Kew to see the lights. None of us had eaten all day and were looking forward to the food. Started off well as shared starters were very nice, three of us ordered lamb roast as the main, one of which needed to be dairy free, one steak pie, one sausage and mash, one risotto. Five of the meals arrived, I was told the 6th hadn't been added to the order but they were rushing it through! The Dairy free lamb roast came without gravy (we were not informed of this at the time of ordering), when questioned we were told that they didn't have a veg/vegan option to accommodate!! Who sends out a roast without gravy and finds that acceptable??? One lamb roast had to be sent back twice as was not hot enough and the risotto was a child's portion size. 15 minutes later the 6th meal arrived, lukewarm and rock hard roast potatoes which I couldn't stick my folk in! Other dinners had veg missing! We asked to speak to the manager who was very apologetic even though he tried to justify the no gravy situation and gave two meals free and a discount which went some way to repairing the damage but to be honest we would have just preferred edible meals! Such as shame as the pub has a nice atmosphere but we will NOT be back!

It looks nice from outside and I’ve always wanted to visit here. Not very many people were there on Friday early evening which was actually good for us because we could have quite dinner. However I needed to wipe the table when we got there with my own baby wipe as it was not clean and... I could make a better caesar salad... it was disgusting with too much dressing and whole pieces of anchovies fillets were there without cutting into small pieces. I would never want to pay more than £10 for these foods. We ordered other foods as well but the presentation was also the let down. I found kids menu when we were leaving, I wonder why they didn’t even offer that menu... we were with two small children. They located in a great area so I hope they’ll improve!!

The service was extremely slow, we were there nearly a hour before our food order was taken and had to buy our drinks at the bar. I had finished my drink before our starters came out at this point we had been there a hour and a half. We then had to rush our main course and miss desserts as we had a kew gardens reservation at 7.20 and thought we had an adequate timings booking in at 5. Also very disappointed to see lovely homemade Yorkshire puddings and when our arrived it was clearly a shop brought option. Staff were very apologetic and the food was amazing when we did get it and we would return again. Just a shame you didn’t seem to be able to cope with how busy you were x
