This was our third visit to the bar. Love the premise, and love the drinks. Had no issues in the past, and have really enjoyed the bar. We usually order several of the cocktails and also order the light bites that they have to offer. Food and drinks, spot on. This time, we decided to book ahead as we know it gets quite busy. With this, you are given a time slot of an hour and a half.
Upon our visit, we were approx 55 minutes in and had just ordered another round of drinks, before these had arrived, we had a different waitress who hadn't served our table before that abruptly walk up to our table as we were in conversation. "last orders" I advised that we had just ordered and she for some reason was just a little rude with us. Our food then arrived at the table. As we were eating, she came back to our tables and shoved the card reader in our faces without request demanding payment and started removing plates, again, without request from our table.
Basically in the final 30 minutes, we were made to feel incredibly uncomfortable, we were rushed out. (it wasn't even busy) and just had the visit spoilt.
We had no intentions of staying past the agreed time slot, and had a great experience with one of the other waitresses, but sadly this second one ruined that.
I no longer feel comfortable returning here and that is a shame.
If this is what the service entails, booking should be advertised as a one hour time slot rather than the hour and 30.
Again, it wasn't...
Read moreIt's alright but hyped up places never seem to live up to the expectations.
First, the seating and space is appalling. The place can only accommodate a queue of 1 group as the rest would have to wait outside for their assigned slots. Since they only have 4 tables and some bar seats, it is now acceptable to seat customers on low wooden benches tucked in at some table attached to a wall in a corner. Didn't feel like I was at a cocktail club, but more like seated somewhere out of the way while waiting for our table. The catch is that that was actually our table lol
Cocktails were delicious, they were sweet and flavourful... but where's the booze? I don't regularly drink, but it honestly felt like there was almost no alcohol in them. They're also a little filling so it's more akin to liquidy milkshake than a cocktail. Plus, they don't have any other types of cocktails. You only get to order more of the same.
The selection of food is not great which is why we didn't order any. It would be great if they had more to kinda complete the experience. They have Cafe in the name but nothing about this place is a cafe apart from the fact they do a couple hot chocolates.
Tl;DR: As my bf puts it: it's a gimmick. I can just as well go to a regular cocktail bar, order chocolate based cocktails there if I feel like one and I can have a better...
Read moreWhat a lovely place to stumble upon 5 weeks ago. They allow walk ins though as the venue is small I would recommend booking. I have now visited 3 times in 5 weeks and planning other visits too. One visit was booked which includes a free drink per person. I have to say we were amazed by the price of the cocktails as well as how lovely and tasty they are. My favourite is the black forest old fashioned though they have changed supplier recently and now it has gluten. So a little sad about the change of supplier but they do have a easy to read allergy form and one waitress (I never got her name) but she highlighted to me that suppliers had changed and urged for me to check the allergy form. The nachos were huge and only £9! They offer sweet and savoury bites. Very excited to come back for season drinks! The rolo shot is amazing and you can get edible shots as well. They do also have normal drinks as well but why have a glass of wine when you can have a chocolate inspired cocktail? I'm very shocked how quiet they are. One time I went in a Friday and for a while it was just me and my friend. I know if they were more central London or on the high street they would be so busy! Everyone is lovey and the service is great. Good luck with...
