The nearest Tube is Tottenham Court Road, Leicester Square Tube is also close by. . This pub started life as The Crown back in 1736. It became The Crown & Two Chairmen in 1839, it’s said to have been re-named after two sedan chair men stopped by for a quick bevvie having dropped off Queen Anne to have her portrait painted in a studio opposite the pub. The pub was rebuilt in its current form in 1929. . This pub has gone through a recent extensive refurbishment and the results are stylish, contemporary with some standout touches. The pub is set out over two floors, the ground floor is open plan with poser tables and a snug at the rear of the bar. Upstairs is a beautiful bar with sumptuous sofas, lots of seating and an elegant servery. . The beer choice was good and had a diverse mixture of Craft, Cask and familiar keg favourites. I had a pint of Estrella, my pint hit the spot but was a bit pricey. There is a traditional pub food menu full of British classics, Fish & Chips casts £16, roasts are available on Sundays. . I was kindly invited to the relaunch party back in February, it was a great night and I met some fellow pub enthusiasts including the voice of pub truth @northlondonpints ,top fella. The team here were welcoming and friendly and really looked after all who attended. . @thecrownandtwo has been a part of the fabric of Soho for many years and with history attached. The pub looks great after the refurb, I especially love the upstairs bar. The beer choice has something for everyone, the food menu is full of British classics and the reviews are positive. I'd heard great things about The Crown & Two Chairmen: their roasts in particular had been recommended to me. Sadly my experience was pretty poor. We were offered table service, but the guy who took our orders was rude and frankly, pretty aggressive. The food arrived with some significant delays between each type of meal: beyond meat burgers first, once they were finished we were finally given cutlery, condiments and napkins, then roasts, then another delay before the burgers arrived. The wait was significant enough that someone in our party who actively manages diabetes came close to having to find something else to tide him over while he waited for his food. When he was served, his burger had been burned and had to be returned. The food itself was pretty good apart from that. The rest of the staff were nice enough. The atmosphere was pretty good. I'd like to think it was just an off day, maybe the team was unexpectedly short staffed. But I'm not likely to return and risk it.

Update - management had been really clear in their communication prior to lockdowns, explained that our experience was a deviation from their usual form and extended a very kind offer. I'm more than happy to change my original review from 2 stars to 4 as the atmosphere was great & the rest of the staff were charming. I'll come back and try again...

Highest recommendations for the Crown and Two Chairmen! We rented the entire upstairs room, and it was great.

The staff was friendly, capable and utterly professional. I found the ordering process very convenient for food and beverage. Our guests were very happy with the selections of craft beers and also the non-alcoholic offerings. Location, fantastic. Right near the Elizabeth line

My event was a corporate tech meetup for about 65 guests, and was planned remote from my home base in California. (I'm American.) This was faintly terrifying as a prospect and a lot of things could have gone wrong, but luckily I chose well.

Even though our requirements changed several times throughout the process, the coordination was superb. The venue rose to the occasion every time, with helpful advice, flexibility and prompt responses.

This was an important event for us, and Crown and Two Chairmen made us look great. Perfect hospitality.

I flew in a day early for the event, and felt an enormous sense of relief that the space looked like the pictures and the that staff was clearly up to the task.They were very helpful in arranging the furniture and seats to maximize space, and considerate of traffic flow when laying out the food.
