An unforgettable wedding celebration at The Sekforde

We hosted our wedding breakfast at The Sekforde on the 22nd of August 2025 , and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From our very first visit, the entire team made us feel incredibly welcome and supported.

Martin, the venue manager, was an absolute star — attentive, professional, and wonderfully accommodating. He made every step of the planning process seamless and ensured everything on the day ran flawlessly. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and enjoyed by every single guest. The serving staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely seemed to share in the joy of the day.

A special thank you goes to Margaret, who decorated the private room upstairs so exquisitely. She captured our taste perfectly and went above and beyond to make the space feel elegant, intimate, and truly ours.

We met the team several times before the big day, and each interaction reinforced how special this family-run venue really is. Our family and friends felt completely at home and had the best time — it was everything we could have hoped for and more.

We also want to mention how Queer-affirming the venue and team were throughout. As a gay couple, we felt completely seen, celebrated, and respected — it made the whole experience even more special.

The Sekforde is the perfect place to host such a special occasion — full of character, warmth, and genuine hospitality. We wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful venue to anyone looking to celebrate an event in style and with true personal...

My husband and I ambled to this wonderful pub on Friday at around 2 pm and it was the first time my husband has walked inside this venue. From the moment we entered this pub it had such a lovely ambience,we thought we were in the country. The decor is quite stunning and the care and attention was lovely. We met Harry who manages this great pub. Harry was so kind and welcoming and my husband felt so comfortable that we stayed for quite a while. I ordered some food. It was the Duck dish and I also had a lovely side dish of tomatoes with a wonderful dressing. Our friend Michael joined us and we were all very impressed with the feel of this place and the architecture and cleanliness. Michael has managed two pubs in Islington and with his knowledge Michael said how impressed he was with the Sekforde. My lunch was outstanding and I saw the chef as he came out to talk to Harry. This is the best pub in the area and we will be back very soon. Thank you so much Harry - you made our afternoon and this review we are giving the Sekforde is so well deserved. We noticed dogs are also welcome. It is so lovely to find a really good pub since our local closed for good in...

The Sekforde is a delightful pub that offers a unique blend of traditional charm and contemporary style. The pub is housed in a beautiful Georgian building and boasts a warm and inviting interior with wooden floors and panelled walls as you walk in, and nice exposed brick walls and wooden beam ceiling downstairs. The bar features an impressive selection of craft beers, ales, and ciders, as well as a range of great wines and spirits. The Sekforde also has a lovely outdoor seating area that is perfect for soaking up the sun while enjoying a drink or two on the quiet street on a nice day. Or on colder nights there's nice big open fire to warm you up. The pub's location in Clerkenwell adds to its appeal, with it being only a short walk from many other great places and things to do/see in London, this is a nice place to stop in for a pint or to finish the day in. Whether you're looking for a cosy spot to catch up with friends or a lively venue for a night out, The Sekforde is definitely...

Disappointed on this occasion lack of atmosphere two little waitresses obviously more interested what was on her lap top than serving me Not sure if I am correct but are you allowed to puff away on a vape in a public house when smoking is forbidden 🚫 not sure bout the rules on vapes or maybe law doesn’t apply if your a so called Manager Previous week enjoy a pleasant drink and lunch with my Friend waitress Georgia was very attentive and was pleased and friendly to serve us tried to replicate the experience a week later failed miserably ordered food had half of Guinness then cancelled the food and left will use Seckford again but will be more selective who serves me and there attitude Maybe it’s age thing but service to me is most important left and enjoy a sandwich instead in Exmouth Market probably saving myself over £30. Cest la vie the life in London. Tom

Really wanted to like this pub's food.. Its close to home and the pub itself its beautiful and a nice place to have some drinks with friends. The food however wasn't up to standard. The fish and chips was OKish but nothing special. The mushy peas were too liquid (I guess that is up to preference?), the chips seemed cooked from frozen. The fish itself was good. The duck dish was the worst of the two. While the sides and sauce were very good, the duck itself was dry and overcooked, there was no pink left (which you would expect in a duck breast). The drinks were good. I had wine and my partner a beer.

Another pub I haven't been in for decades. It's a classic London local. It's a bit off the beaten track in the now totally gentrified Clerkenwell. But very worth a detour. Had a couple of pints with the darling daughter. £13.00. Friendly service, it was quiet on a Wednesday afternoon so we bagged a seat outdoors in the May sunshine. I'm always amazed at how revisiting an old haunt brings back memories of people and happy times. A pub turned into a Tesco Express never does that. So save your local.
