Let me start by saying the food was ok. Fairy standard stuff, not above average. Right, the problems with this restaurant lies at the heart of customer service. We booked for 8.00pm so we're not a surprise or latecomers. We ordered some wine which was fine but with a 120percent mark up. Ok, they need to make money. We had some poppadoms and dips. Fairly soon after receiving them, we were asked if we wanted to order. My wife said maybe in minute. The waiter said, ' the kitchen closes at 9.00. it was about 8.10. so, we ordered reluctantly feeling rather rushed. The food arrived fairly swiftly. It was piping hot. As we were eating, with for remaining the waiter asked if we had finished? Clearly we hadn't. There is a bar there. They were putting up the hatches at around 9.15 and were turning lights off. When we first day down, there was a menu which included desserts. This was taken away at the start. We were not asked if we wanted to order a desert. The bar was shut so forget about an aperitif. Generally, they wanted customers out by 9.30 so they could shut. Let me add my credentials here so you can separate my review from possibly unfair ones. I have lived in Brentford for 24 years and have been going to the watermans, where this restaurant is since I came to Brentford, which, by the way, is a great town. Therefore, I have been to this restaurant several times so can differentiate between good and bad service here. We were rushed out. If I wanted to have a chat, drink, desert, behind the main course, iwas in the wrong place. If this is their idea of service, there are plenty of other places to go. You cannot relax and enjoy your meal. We won't be going back. That's it for...
Read moreWe had a fantastic meal at the Guru Tandoori last night (Friday night). Thanks to others' review comments we had no trouble finding it, so that all worked out fine (thanks to others for sharing the detail). Our waiter was welcoming and helpful in respect of allergy advice and our menu choice. Disagree with comments about the venue being dingy - we absolutely loved the atmosphere and the quirky setting. Our table was right by the window and although it was dark outside (so no view of the river) the moon was just about full so there was lots of glistening water alongside us for the first part of our meal (until the tide went out)! This, along with the ambient lighting inside was lovely for us - I'm hypersensitive to harsh lighting, so I'd totally recommend this venue as ideal if you also struggle with this. Also totally recommend the food. I had prawn biryani, very good indeed, no scrimping on the prawns or the flavour - best I've had in a VERY long time. My husband had the vegetable dhansak which he found very tasty. The menu had plenty of choice and was very reasonably priced too. Lovely meal, great service. We were staying in the area (Novotel Brentford) for a visit to Kew Gardens so if you're doing similar we'd heartily recommend eating here after a day in the gardens, it was the perfect end to a...
Read moreDo not underestimate this place. Although it's located in a theatre, the starters are mind blowing. If you ask for the tandoori mixed grill to be extra spicy, the flavours are like no other in the area. Any place in Hounslow cannot even beat the taste. It's a fresh, spicy, delicious taste that does not leave your mouth dry. I'm fussy with my Indian food and I always expect an authentic experience and boy this surely does not disappoint. If you want really authentic tasting starters, then this is the place to go to. The restaurant also looks great, with nice looking lights and the place itself is very...
