After reading so many positive reviews and being a huge Christmas and lights lover, I booked 5 tickets for £25 each for me and my family to go to the Christmas at Kew trail.
The light show was very underwhelming. While the trail itself was pretty, it largely consisted of music with a few scattered light displays. There was no standout feature to make you go “wow.” The only truly beautiful part was at the end, where you could walk under and be surrounded by lights. Beyond that, it felt like minimal effort had gone into the experience, falling far short of the high standards you'd expect from Kew Gardens. It felt more like a small-budget suburban trail.
The prices were outrageous. I understand events like this are often overpriced, but this was excessive—even worse than Winter Wonderland. £12 for a small hotdog is absurd. We also bought two loaded hot chocolates advertised at £5.50 each but were charged £12. When we asked why, we were told we’d paid an extra 50p each for reusable cups. While reusable cups are a great idea, this wasn’t disclosed upfront. On top of that, the hot chocolate was lukewarm and made from pre-mixed chocolate milk—not worth the price.
We’re happy to pay more if it’s worth it, but this wasn’t. Overall, I’d recommend saving your money or at least eating at home before you go. And if you do visit, dress warmly—it’s...
Read moreOur family decided to embrace the festive spirit at Christmas at Kew Gardens over the Christmas holidays, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the enchanting atmosphere set the tone for a magical evening. The stunning light display along the trail was nothing short of spectacular. Twinkling lights adorned trees, and captivating installations illuminated the paths, creating a whimsical wonderland that delighted both adults and children alike.
As we strolled through the gardens, the scents of seasonal treats wafted through the air. We were spoiled for choice with plenty of food outlets offering delicious options, from Halal Hot Dogs to festive pastries. Each stop was a chance to recharge and savour the holiday flavours, making it a truly immersive experience.
One of the highlights was the immersive light tunnel, where we felt transported to another world. The colours danced in sync with festive music, creating a sensory feast that left us in awe. It was a perfect way to capture the joy and warmth of the holiday season.
If you're planning to visit next year, I highly recommend booking your tickets early. This event has become increasingly popular, and it's easy to see why. With so much to see and do, Christmas at Kew Gardens is a must-visit for families looking to make lasting memories during the...
Read moreA must-have experience! My partner and I love to see different Christmas lights and specially during Christmas Eve and this time we had the enormous opportunity to experience Christmas at Kew. Kew Garden during Christmas is a place for everyone: family, couples, friends or even solo.
During the visit you will enjoy a huge variety of lights and music with spectacular performance. The second you get into the trail, you will think you are in a different world.
This place is split into different stages in case you need some food or hot drink during the trail. Food is a little bit pricey though.
Beware the trail is at least 2hours long.
Parking is optional, you can book it when you buy the tickets (£10), but it is not close to the actual gardens, it is a 10-15 minutes walk, so make sure you have appropriate shoes to walk. There is no much of parking opportunities around the park.
I would highly recommend this place to everyone at least once during Christmas..
