Firstly let's just say I've had beers and burgers in more places than you could imagine. Then let's say this place has the best burger I've tasted in a very long time coupled with the fact they serve speciality craft beers- most of all the sour beers! What an amazing selection in a newly refurbished place nestled amongst quiet streets of Brentford. This place is an absolute gem and will be my new go to place - especially as its 5 mins from my house 👍 Yet another visit and yet another great experience. The beers the food and the staff all make this place an amazing visit. If you like craft beers and sour beers then this is a great choice. This time I had an extremely sour apricot beer that the barman described "like licking a tazer!" Well of course this totally sold it to me and it didn't disappoint! Very sour! The food is also very good and you can tell the chef actually puts the love into making it. No sloppy burgers that fall apart, all so well constructed and the I ingredients are well balanced to create a perfect burger! I hope this place never changes! Back after a few months and still great staff and beers

Went for my birthday last month. Food pretty good but dense fly population in area of garden we were sitting in probably due to extractor fan fumes. Main issue was this weird response from the girl at the bar in response to my beer complaint: I had Buxton's LupulusX IPA which tasted old and had a dark, soapy appearance. When I asked the girl at the bar, expecting her to say it's DDH or sediment (or something altogether exciting and different), she simply said "some beers are darker". Not satisfied with that I retorted with an incredulous "really?". Her response: "do you not think we clean our lines or something!?!?" Well I didn't before you said that. So.. no apologies, no offers to check, no offers to re-pour. Just this strange defensive attitude that I was wrong. Checked photos on Untappd too - the beer looks vibrant and bright. Totally soured our visit. Btw I've seen quite a few snarky and unprofessional rebuttals to negative reviews on here so far, so I'm hoping for a modicum of modesty.

Great pub. Good variety of food and drinks. With good options for veggies / vegans and food allegories. Nice friendly staff. Nice decor, did a good job in small space. Nice beer garden, although ground is a little uneven so be careful! Sunday roast is yum and regular food menu is great too. I would like to give it 4 and half stars but only have the option of 4 or 5. A little pricey but I don't mind paying the price for good food/drink and a good atmosphere. The Chilli Sin Carne is so good as is the aubergine & flat bread. Oh, the loo could do with a bit of a paint and some heating. Would definitely recommend a visit here for food and drink. I've changed this to 5* as on our return visit had one of the best roast dinners. Our group had a mixture of vegan, lamb, beef. All found it delicious. I already look forward to another Sunday visit. Staff again super friendly. It's nice having a great local pub.

June 2021. After an absence of 18 months we returned to the BD for an excellent lunch and several rounds of superb beer (some of it brewed on the premises.) To avoid any misunderstanding the pub provides a helpful 'beer menu'. The staff were friendly and knowlegible and the food and drink excellent. The garden has been rejigged and is a delight. Well done Black Dogs.

.....................................................

A new Brentford hot spot replacing the long closed and disgraced former Albany. The Black Dog is a clean, cheerful, comfortable venue with a wide range of draft and keg beers, lagers and wines. There are large windows topped with stained glass panels, nice wooden furniture, and a general air of cleanliness and light. The staff appear cheerful and on the ball. There is a comprehensive menu. The toilets are clean and modern. There is an outside area at the rear with seating. Nice music too. A great improvement and worth another visit.

Black Mark for the Black Dog. With the resumption of football at Brentford it was round to the BD immediately after the game. I asked for two pints of America pale all which we had enjoyed last season for around £5.50 a pint. I was told that it was not available that day but a similar beer was. I ordered 2 pints. Imagine my surprise when paying I was asked for £14.40!!!!!!! Although a description, name and price of the beer were no doubt on the black board along with many others the barman should have mentioned it cost in excess of £7 a pint. I paid up wondering how many others have been shafted in this way. Not good BD, the beer left a nasty taste in my mouth. Needless to say our next round was taken at...

I made a reservation at The Black Dog for my girlfriend's birthday because she had a craving for a Sunday roast, and several of our friends highly recommended the place. The pub has a charming ambiance, with its brickwork and wooden interior, and it even boasts a lovely garden. They offer an impressive selection of beers and ciders as well.

Unfortunately, when it came to book a table for our meal, I was given limited time slots to choose from: 12:00, 14:00, or 16:00. It was clear that they were focused on maximizing their revenue, as they only allowed us a two-hour window. This practice really irritated me because I dislike feeling rushed when I go out to eat, especially in a pub setting.

When our food arrived, I have to admit, I didn't understand what all the hype was about. My girlfriend's roast beef was overcooked, and so was my burger. But what truly disappointed me was when she asked for extra gravy for her roast and was informed that there would be an additional charge of £1.50!

I couldn't believe it. Had we known, we would have brought our own OXO cube and asked for a cup of hot water. This experience not only put us off from returning to The Black Dog, but we also shared our disappointment with friends who were considering trying it for the first time. Needless to say, they were shocked and have decided to avoid the place as well.

This situation serves as a reminder of the power of word-of-mouth. It can be quite costly for a business, as in this case, The Black Dog lost not only our potential repeat visits but also potential customers we could have recommended, all due to their...
