I think the restaurant has potential to be lovely but unfortunately it falls short for an authentic Italian. First of all when we arrived the restaurant was not busy but there was no table setting ready for us. Then once the waiter took our order we had a short wait for the food to arrive. Unfortunately they had decided to add Parmesan to the bolognese before bringing it to the table and we had to send it back due to allergies, which could have been avoided by asking us when ordering, or doing the usual of offering it at the table. The carbonara pizza does not taste of carbonara at all, and the carbonara pizza is heavy on cream and not authentic in my opinion. The marinara pizza was the best (the dough was nice) but unfortunately the tomato sauce was missing a lot of flavour. During our visit we didn’t see one senior staff member and I felt that the two junior members needed some support - they didn’t seem confident with much and didn’t seem to have much idea what they served I.e asked by the table next to us what salad dressings were available with the salad they ordered that came dry, they had to go and ask the chef. Finally, we decided to pay after not finishing any of our meals and found we had been locked in the restaurant! The girl serving us couldn’t open it and had to get the boy to do so, which even he struggled with. Never mind the obvious questions about safety, it seems a bizarre thing for staff to do! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant which is a shame as it has great potential. It needs a lot of work...
Read moreBeyond awful experience tonight. Staff were not attentive from the beginning. When we finally got someone's attention to order, they seemed to have little familiarity with the menu. I confused tagliatelle with tortellini after a long day at work, and tried to order the beef shin tortellini with GF penne. In hindsight, this is obviously not possible but the waiter put my order through anyway. 10 mins later they told us they are running short on beef shin. So I asked for the spaghetti Bolognese but with the GF penne instead. A further 7 mins after that the waiter said they only have GF penne. To which I said. Yes I know. I want the Bolognese with GF penne. Instead I got something else with GF penne when our food eventually came out some 20 mins later. It's baffling it took so long to confirm our order and that there was so much confusion. We had to confirm our orders multiple times. Our groups drinks were empty by the time the food came and we were never asked if we wanted more. The only thing the waiter comped wàs my pasta after I refused to pay for it. We were never Asked if the table has allergies, thankfully I'm only intolerant by coeliacs should avoid eating here. Also not recommended if you have a theatre booking as our food came out at 655. Despite ordering at 615 and only...
Read moreIt was ok. Very quiet when we arrived and I think the service staff must have been very new. No toilet roll in the toilet, was with my pregnant wife so had to ask them to put some in.
Ordered 2 starters, which were nice, though didn't bring any bread with the beef starter. When this was raised with staff I was told it doesn't come with anything, I had to pull the menu up on my phone to show it does. Then our mains were brought out to us when we had barely started our first course. Just lacked a bit of common sense and experience to the service I think.
Ordered a pasta dish and a pizza dish, again both were fairly nice. When paid, the waitress took an extra £5 off my card, this was a mistake to be fair, though when I asked about it she asked me was I not leaving a tip (which is included in the bill). Again, the service was just lacing a bit.
Bill came to £72. Just too expensive for the food, service and atmosphere. There are a couple of authentic Italians locally (Chapel Market And Islington) where this would have been £50ish and with better environment.
The couple next to us had a Groupon voucher for a discount, it would have been good value for money if we...
