Went to the 'rooftop bar' as part of our work Xmas party. On the way there, I was told there was a power cut and that it was on the way to being sorted. After I arrived, we sat there for a further two hours waiting for food before some of us left.
These things happen obviously and cannot be helped. The lack of communication from staff was the biggest issue. There was another party using the upstairs bar as well and were told they could have free pizza and 3 drinks as part of a sorry from management for inconvenience. The people organising our do were told that was not possible since there were so many of us. Surely you can't offer one party an apology and not the other? Like I said, accidents happen but to not offer anything by way of apology is below what was expected of them. Not even to mention the fact they sent members of our party who didn't want to eat downstairs as they hadn't paid for food. Food arriving 3 hours after the party arrived. Other parties being giving tokens of apology and not us. Really not great at all. Definitely won't be using again.
Edit: Thank you for clarifying. I can only offer an honest review of my experience on the day. Power cuts happen and this review is not based on that; it's based on the response from management and how I feel customers were treated that evening. Regardless of what you say, there were customers waiting close to 3 hours for food. I can assure you that the food was not being served at 7-7.15. If it had, I wouldn't have felt the need to get up and leave at 8.30. Others who remained told me that some did not eat until 9. If people reading this, they'll make up their own minds. The pub might be great for small bookings but I'm pretty sure we won't be coming...
Read moreWe visited the Kings Arms on Monday 14th April and was really disappointed with the service provided. We arrived at 2:30pm with our 2 young children and waited at the bar for 10-15 minutes to be seated for a meal, no staff were around. Once Michelle came out we didn’t receive a warm welcome or an apology for the wait. We had friends meeting us so she pushed 2 round tables together for us to sit down together which was fine. We were then sat down and ignored for another 15 minutes - we weren’t given menus or asked if we wanted any drinks. Our kids were getting restless after waiting half an hour, So I helped myself to the menus and went back up to the bar to order as no luck being served at our table. I was told a bday party had come in without booking so they had been busy but still no apology for lack of table service. I ordered our drinks and meals and headed back to our table and put our menus back. The food came out which was all really delicious and was served by a friendly young lad. Our friends arrived and received a warm welcome, hugs, smiles and lots of chat throughout the afternoon which seemed to highlight how differently we were treated. On the way home our friends asked how much our bill was and I realised we had been overcharged for the kids drinks which should have been free with their meals during the half term promotion. A small error but just another thing which added to the bad experience. We have visited loads of times and had great service before but unfortunately we won’t be returning in a hurry, a real shame as the...
Read moreHad our first visit since the change of ownership here on the 29th September.
The remodel goes beyond a new lick of paint on the exterior. The interior is light and airy with a nice contrast between burgundy wooden panelling and white tiling.
The duty manager, Dan was very jovial and a pleaseure to talk to, as were all other staff. Service was fast and the portions generous. Compliments to the chef for the best goujons I have ever tasted. Prices are very reasonable at £8 for a pint of Heineken & Havana club 3 with mixer and the average main course price of £11
The toilets were also very clean, if small at only 2 stalls in the ladies, they are clearly attended regularly, evidenced by the full soap & tissue dispensers.
Desert was also a delight with both the Apple crumble and chocolate fudge brownie options made on the premises daily.
The venue boasts an extensive wine list with recommendations throughout the menu and a dedicated menu for Sunday roasts and tasters with live music on Sunday evenings.
All in all a very positive experience and we will definitely be...
