This is my second visit to this fine establishment. We start off with a warm and friendly greeting from the staff at the bar - Alex and Mary. I recognise Alex from last time as he has impeccable taste in music (contrary to the rest of the teams belief). We are 20 minutes early and thankfully our table inside the pub area is ready. It's in a nice cosy cornerand there are some board games available should we fancy it. There are 3 of us and we've come for the roast and order the Pork, Beef and Lamb individually plus a side of Cauliflower cheese. Being from Yorkshire, I am picky when it comes to roasts. It;'s finding that triple sweet spot of quality, quantity and value. A triumphant fist pump into the air and a round of applause as this hit every part of the above perfectly. I had the lamb roast and it was just joyful. Everything was in perfect measure and the meat was impeccable. I have zero idea how I managed to finish my plate (I am stupidly proud of myself and had a well deserved 2 hour nap in the afternoon) but I was in that 'happy-pain' where it's so delicious you can't stop eating it. We probably didn't need the Cauli-cheese however it had the perfect kick of mustard and it was perfectly cooked. I kinda don't want to go into detail about how fantastic the other plates were as I think you need to go and try it for yourself. Afterwards I went and shook hands with the kitchen and the wonderful staff at the bar. This place is special. If you want a Sunday roast that IS AN ACTUAL SUNDAY ROAST and not one of those loveless pub roasts that resembles a microwave meal, then this is the one. I've never had a better one in London and I've had a Gordon Ramsey one at the now closed York & Albany. Thank you The Lord Tredagar. You are fabulous.

The Lord Tredegar: A Cozy Gem Near Mile End Station The Lord Tredegar is a delightful pub that effortlessly combines charm, warmth, and excellent service. Nestled near Mile End Station, it’s the perfect spot for a laid-back meal or drinks with friends. The first thing you’ll notice is the welcoming ambiance. With a real fireplace crackling away, the pub exudes a cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for chilly evenings. Adding to its unique charm is the resident cat, who can often be found lounging at the bar. Friendly and curious, she gives the pub a character that sets it apart from others in the area. The staff at The Lord Tredegar are exceptional—kind, attentive, and eager to make your visit memorable. They were quick to recommend the grilled chicken burger, and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, it’s a must-try for anyone stopping by. The drinks menu is equally impressive, offering a variety of beers, wines, and spirits to suit all tastes. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Lord Tredegar is a must-visit. Its combination of great food, a cozy setting, and the added charm of a friendly feline makes it a standout choice for a relaxed and enjoyable pub experience. Don’t miss it if you’re in the Mile End area!

This is one of the greatest pubs anyone will ever visit, if you're a local you're blessed. In this day & age it's hard to find a great local that is a classic pub, grand in size featuring a cat, and garden. Though understand it's big for a reason as it's a very popular place to have great food and probably the best roast dinner in London, with me now trying to find places that will upstage this pub. For me what makes this place before the food is the staff that work here, calm and very friendly to help you feel relaxed. However the kitchen staff making these dishes are the best kept secret you want to tell everyone about. I recently went up north having a roast, and it couldn't touch what you get at The Lord Tredegar. It's not only the portion size that is perfect and satisfying, but how well everything is cooked and that presentation when a dish is served will have you taking pics to show the world. On the rare occasions I've been in on a different day, let me confirm the food is still amazing and I hope this winning formula remains. Knowing pubs have been dying out for a while, this pub deserves to be protected as it does England and the East End proud. Tell everyone about it, but not too many to ensure you can enjoy a roast on a Sunday!

The Sunday roast at The Lord Tredegar in London is an absolute triumph of traditional British cuisine. From the moment the plate arrived, it was clear this would be a generous and satisfying meal. Piled high with a variety of perfectly prepared ingredients, it delivered on both quantity and quality.

The Main Event: The roast meats were the star of the show, perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The beef, in particular, had a beautiful balance of tenderness and a crispy seared exterior, while the chicken was juicy and succulent. Topping the plate was a magnificent golden pork crackling—crisp, crunchy, and deliciously salty, offering the perfect texture contrast to the tender meats beneath it.

Sides That Shined: The roast potatoes were a highlight—crispy on the outside with a soft and fluffy interior, seasoned just right. These were clearly roasted with care, as each bite brought the perfect crunch. The Yorkshire puddings were a thing of beauty as well: large, airy, and golden, serving as the perfect vessel to soak up the savory, rich gravy that covered the plate.

The accompanying vegetables—kale and roasted root vegetables—added a lovely balance to the heavier elements of the meal, giving a fresh and slightly bitter counterpoint to the richness of the meats and gravy. The gravy itself was expertly crafted, thick, and full of flavor, adding depth to every bite.

A Perfect Pairing of Drinks: The drink selection complemented the meal wonderfully. The ginger beer, with its robust and slightly spicy flavor, cut through the richness of the roast, refreshing the palate. The presentation of the ginger beer in a classic, no-nonsense can, alongside a chilled glass with a slice of orange, was a simple yet effective touch. Additionally, the bright orange juice added a touch of brightness and acidity, balancing out the heaviness of the roast perfectly.

Atmosphere: The ambiance at The Lord Tredegar’s outdoor seating was delightful. Nestled in a charming courtyard, the greenery and rustic furniture created an inviting space for a laid-back Sunday afternoon meal. The tables were well-spaced, offering a pleasant and private dining experience. With ample shade from large umbrellas and the warm sun filtering through the leaves, it was the perfect spot to enjoy the roast in a relaxed, open-air environment.

Service and Presentation: Despite being a hearty and heavy dish, the presentation was thoughtful. The various elements of the meal were arranged neatly, with the towering Yorkshire pudding and crackling crowning the dish, creating a visual feast even before the first bite. The service was equally commendable—attentive without being intrusive, ensuring the drinks were well-paired and the food served piping hot.

Verdict: The Lord Tredegar’s Sunday roast is a quintessential British pub meal done right. Every aspect, from the perfectly cooked meats to the flavorful sides and the cozy outdoor setting, made for an exceptional dining experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is a spot that should be on your list for a classic Sunday roast in London. A true testament to the charm and warmth of British pub culture, The Lord Tredegar’s roast is a meal that will leave you full, happy, and looking forward to...
