I visited this café Sunday evening with my family. They were kind enough to accommodate and make space for us with 4 adults, a pram and a stroller despite being a small café and not having called/reserved prior. We were seated at the back besides the kitchen and we were not disturbed by any noise. Although the prices did seem fairly high on the main menu, I was pleased to see there were some cheaper options in the brunch menu. After reading they source their ingredients locally plus being an independent business I feel the prices are fair. My dad had a full English breakfast, my mum and cousin had the avocado on toast, they all thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the falafel sandwich which I did enjoy, the pickled onions were my favourite part but I felt the falafels could have done with more seasoning as I found them quite bland. This is partly my fault but I should have asked for the bread not to be toasted as I struggled to eat it as a whole sandwich and ended up dissecting it to eat, especially with the sourdough bread being thickly sliced. The staff were friendly, seemed happy and pleased with the service they provide which makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, we all enjoyed our experience in this café and loved the record...

I have been wanting to try The Orpington for some time now, as the reviews were very good and I have to say it did not disappoint.

From the moment myself and my husband walked in, the welcoming and the service was impeccable. The staff were very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with great music. And we love that it's a record shop too.

The food was amazing. You can tell that the ingredients are really fresh. It was well presented and just delicious. The coffee is lovely too. I would say for what you get, the prices are reasonable. I would happily pay those prices for good quality food and excellent service all day long and that's certainly what we got from The Orpington. We can't wait to go back and try something different on the menu. We would highly recommend. And please be polite to the staff, they are lovely. We noticed a few diners who forgot...

I love Eggs Benedict and the Salt beef version here blew my socks off - It was the best brunch I've had in years and put a whacking great smile on my face ... The staff are incredibly attentive without a hint of overbear ( well trained I would surmise ) and the owner is lovely and deeply passionate about his new venture - he came and sat with me for a few minutes today but dashed up to open the door for prams and say goodbye leaving customers ... After overhearing a description of the banoffee pie I decided to push the boat out for brunch ( and release belt a notch ) ... Utterly butterly home made heaven ... You know it's not the michelin starred places that change food culture in a country , it's places ( run by people ) like this ... Beyond impressed ... Oh - did I mention it has a real vinyl record...

There is a nice atmosphere and the lady who served me was really particularly nice! The prices are definitely high, but the coffee is good and it might be ok as it’s a nice place… apart from the food… see the photo posted with this review and judge for yourself. The photo is their £8 salt beef sandwich. I would encourage the staff to Google image search ‘salt beef sandwich’ which this was not. A single layer of absolutely wafer thin beef (thinner than any bacon I have ever seen). Not enough to even really taste in the sandwich. Really unforgivable. Prices being high is one thing but this portion was truly insane.

Arguably the best service in Orpington, the staff here are amazing. So friendly, welcoming, helpful and attentive. Went here with my wife and 1 year old and had a super brunch. Pancakes for me and avacado on toast for the lady. Sublime. The premises is clean, tidy and can fit decent groups. At the back is a wicked record store with an outstanding selection of artists. I spent a good few minutes flipping through just the B section. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is thoroughly enjoyable. Big plus for having unisex bathrooms with baby changing, which as a dad, makes a big difference to an outing. Kudos.
