Omg how is everyone bigging this place up. My friends and I came here for her birthday and were sat at an 8 person table when there were multiple non reserved free 6 person tables. Weird but alright. Then our server was just so... rude? Didn't say anything, just what are we ordering. We had to ask for his name and only at the end, not even a happy birthday (she was wearing a huge badge that said it was her birthday, even strangers wished her well). He never smiled, didnt ask how we were, just doing the absolute bare minimum. Alright, fine. The food? Crap. Absolutely bad, there was no seasoning, 2 friends got chicken skewers and one got significantly more than the other, it looked like they bit off the last peice of chicken. The halloumi popcorn tasted gone off, the calimari was bad and the octopus was tasteless. Fine. Then when we were going to pay (took him about 10 minutes to get the bill and we were one of 2 groups in the entire place) we asked to take off the service charge of £11 because as Ive explained before, food and service were both bad to say the best. He looked at the friend who asked like she just took food out of his children's mouths oh my God. He gave her the dirtiest look, scowling at her and did a double take. He asked again and she confirmed, and he went from bare minimum to outright rude. Okay, fine, not gonna leave a bad review over this, but this just pushed me over the edge. We all did the maths of how much we should pay individually and I said £14 for my portion (shared fries and halloumi popcorn). Tell me why he charged me £40. I will say that again because of the absolute and utter absurdity. He charged me £40. For bad popcorn halloumi and half a fries. £40. You must be joking. And because we just left I only saw this on my bank hours after we left. £110 not including service charge for two unseasoned chicken skewers, one of which was severely lacking, 2 large and 2 small fries, calamari, octopus, halloumi popcorn and a three bread sharing platter. For bad food and bad service. The atmosphere was also terrible because there was nobody around and the servers were hiding and the lighting was harsh. Absolutely never and I mean NEVER come here. Chris (or Christian, had to ask your name to even write this review, not even a "hi I'm Christian your server, what would you like") should not be serving people with his rotten attitude and no sense of any manners.

Real Greek Restaurant Good food but too pricey for me The Real Greek is obviously a good quality restaurant. However, reviews must consider the context of price in proportion to quality and service. Baring in mind, this is the most expensive lunch I've ever had, plus a 10% service charge. They have a lot to live up to. My review must take into consideration what I have had to pay. Often businesses must decide wether pricing is going to be set at ‘treat’ or one-off visit price. Or at a every day price where you could pop by daily or multiple times in a week. I dont think the Real Greek met either brief. The food was of good quality and well cooked at a cost £65 + service charge. Places of a similar quality have mains at £15 per person + service charge. One may say, you get what you pay for. However, there was no major difference in service. Considering, when we arrived, there were no other customers. Therefore good service wasn't particularly challenging. When we arrived, we were immediately given a jug of tap water. Which was a good start. I was also impressed by the amount of authentic Greek choices. I asked for a no carb alternative to the chips and was offered halloumi fries, which i was pleased with. The Greek lager was nothing to write home about. It only goes to show, that just because a beer is brewed locally, it doesn't make it more interesting. The main plate you will see in the picture cost us £50 to share. You can decide if that is good value for money. £72 for lunch is surely a one-off and will not invite regular custom. in Short, i really enjoyed my afternoon, but was unhappy with what I paid.

Let me start by saying that I don’t like giving a negative review but this place warrants it. The wife and I went here on our first date in over a year after having a baby and we were really excited but this place let us down miserably. We ordered a mixture of 8 small dishes including sides and the food turned up within 5-7 minutes, apart from the calamari which we had to wait another couple of minutes for. Honestly I’ve waited longer in fast food places. Out of all our food the only good things were the calamari and prawns. The pork belly was tough and overcooked, the rice had a weird taste, the meatballs were like rubber, the aubergine was raw, the chicken was so tough that I struggled to pull it off the skewer, so much so that we had to move glasses away incase it flew off like in a cartoon when it would finally come off. One of the wait staff started clearing our table while we were still eating, this was only 20 minutes or so after our food arrived, considering we still had the table for another hour and a bit this was poor. This just got worse as he took the wife’s plate even though she hadn’t finished. We saw the same guy ignoring tables when they were trying to talk to him. The food was so bad that we barely made it home, thank god the a40 was clear because we spent the next 24 hours near the porcelain throne. I’ve ate at some really amazing restaurants and some not so amazing but this has to be one of the worst ever if not the worst. We will definitely not be back and would suggest others to avoid and believe some of the other bad reviews.

Shocking experience with lack of respect. My daughter and I stopped here for a late lunch. I'll skip to the worst, but from start to finish, the staff didn't give two hoots and did not pay attention. We grabbed drinks and then the waiter took our order. He did not ask about allergies., but whilst ordering a pork belly souvlaki, he was told that my daughter did not eat chicken. We ordered their Kalamari, a pork belly souvlaki wrap and a sausage dish, along with 2 drinks. The drinks were fine, then the food arrived. My daughter questioned me whether she had been given a chicken souvlaki and I said it wasn't. She took a bite and it was chicken. My daughter was VERY upset. We asked the waiter, who said 'sorry about that'. I explained that my daughter cannot eat chicken. He said sorry again, then took the dish away, returning within a couple of minutes with a pork souvlaki (clearly not freshly cooked). My daughter was visibly upset, which the waiters could see, however, did nothing about. Shortly after, another waiter arrived at our table with two chicken souvlakis, my daughter was horrified and then the waiter realised his mistake. Then my daughter's pork souvlaki was removed and replaced with a fresh one. The food was not good. The calamari was inedible (frozen cardboard, not at all 'the real greek'). My sausage was also revolting and I left it on the platter. My daughter was getting more upset and we decided to leave. Whilst I paid, I was asked if everything was okay (a lot of food left) and I said, No, everything was Not okay. Still, they had no empathy about how traumatising this was for my daughter. I paid the bill and as I was leaving a chef stopped me and she asked if my daughter was okay as she had seen she was visibly upset and close to tears when she left the restaurant. I explained and she said that it was her who had messed up the order. I said that it wasn't good enough, she can't eat chicken and the staff had failed in their duty and their care. The lady then said could she give us a dessert to take away... I declined and said none of this was okay. The whole experience was awful. The food was awful. The staff were incompetent. I would not recommend The Real...

This is probably my 5th time coming here and I have always enjoyed my experience, until today. My partner and I came in to celebrate his job promotion and were greeted by a young lady with a very big smile, she welcomed us and walked us over to a table, we were expecting a friend to join us so asked the young lady for a bigger table and she rolled her eyes at us, and sighed, threw the menus on the table and cleared up the two spare plates without even asking if we required them. We were then ignored by her whilst waiting to order, thankfully a lovely man who has served us in the past came to take our order, he is always excellent so this is not a complaint about him. My partner ordered the pork souvlaki and I got the halloumi one as I am a strict vegetarian. The young lady brought us the food with no expression. Everything was fine until I started eating mine and found meat in my wrap …. My parter asked her over to show her and she just took the food away with no apology or care. I started to feel quite sick and I do not eat meat and to have it in my food… quite shocking. Also to mention no one actually asked if we have any allergy’s or dietary requirements! After this my partner went up to tell them I did not want a replacement only to have it removed from the bill and the lady rolled her eyes at him and said “well it’s already made”, she then told the chef who my partner also saw roll his eyes and complain that it was already made. This is not what we expected as customers to be served the wrong thing, in fact to be deceived with the products we have been served with and then to attempt to guilt us into taking the replacement, quite shocking. As someone who has worked in hospitality before I understand the pressure and stress customers can cause, but a little empathy and compassion should never go a miss. Really really disappointed, perhaps extra training on customer care is required as this was definitely not a present experience. Only thing to make up for the situation was the lovely male waiter who came over and asked us about the situation and showed us some compassion and he...
