I am a huge fan of Zizi usually, but this has got to be the worst experience I've ever had at one of their restaurants.
The restaurant was by no means busy, but the staff were so uninterested and inattentive, we had to call them over ourselves any time we needed anything whatsoever, whether that be to order, get our plates taken away or pay our bill.
Multiple knives and forks on our table were dirty, and in fact, where we were sat we could see one of the serving stations and watched a waitress discard multiple items of cutlery herself, when she was getting them out to re-set a table, assuming they were dirty too.
Our waiter was totally clueless. One of our party wasn't too hungry and just wanted to order a starter item and a side. We specifically asked for it to come out together with the main, but were told that wasn't possible. We also asked to customise one of the items, but again, we were told no. As such, the starter for one of our party came out well before the rest of our food, and even before our drinks had arrived.
After this, our waiter managed to drop a tray of drinks over the floor. An occupational hazard in the restaurant business, however, it was almost comical watching four members of staff trying to clean it up, meaning anything else in the restaurant ground to a halt.
Once the starter item was finished, we saw multiple wait staff stood idle, staring at our table and totally ignoring the fact there was an empty dish waiting to be cleared away. Indeed, it wasn't cleared away until our mains came out, meaning one our our group then had to watch us eat.
Food at Zizi is usually excellent, however, on this occasion, a little bit more attention to detail wouldn't have gone amiss. Toppings on the pizza were just dumped in the centre and not spread around and the beef chianti ragu was severely lacking in beef. There was next to none.
Once again, with plates empty, we had to flag our waiter down. He actually seemed surprised that we wanted our plates cleared away... then we made the mistake of ordering a desert. After plates were cleared away and the order was placed, we waited a good 10-15 minutes before he came back and asked us what desert we had ordered again as he had forgotten. That was the last we saw of our waiter for the evening. Not sure if he finished his shift or just disappeared.
After a further wait, the desert finally came and that was nice enough... although presentation could have been better.
Yet again, we had to flag someone down to get the bill, and the waiter that served us this time also appeared to have no clue what to do either. He struggled with applying my Zizi loyalty number to the bill, and then when we asked to remove the service charge from the bill (for the distinct lack of service) he told us "one moment" then also disappeared. After waiting and waiting and seriously contemplating leaving without paying, another waitress finally came over with the bill which we paid and then left. It is worth nothing that at no point throughout our visit, were we asked how our meal was.
This has been, without doubt, the worst experience at Zizi I have ever had. The staff here are in serious need of a lot more training as their service was abysmal and nowhere near the high level usually found at other locations we have been to.
I will definitely not be returning to this location and will visit one of the myriad of other dining options next time I am...
Read moreRecently had a dinner at Zizzi Westfield (White City), and unfortunately, I must say that it was a rather disappointing visit. Customer service was poor.
Upon arriving at the restaurant as a group of four. We waited for 3 to 5 minutes at the front, but none of the staff acknowledged our presence. They seemed to deliberately avoid making eye contact with us, leaving us feeling ignored and unwelcome.
Finally, after a considerable wait, one of the waitresses nonchalantly told us that our table would be ready in a few minutes, as though she had already interacted with us before. It was an odd start to the evening.
Once we were seated, we were surprised to find that our table was completely bare, lacking cutlery and napkins. We attempted to order using the QR code on our phones, but the system did not work, and had to do it manually.
The baffling service continued as our side salads arrived first, without any cutlery provided to eat them with. After waiting for some time, our drinks were served, and only then we could ask for the cutlery we needed from the beginning.
The food itself was average, nothing spectacular, the subpar service overshadowed any positive aspects of the meal. Once we finished eating, no staff member bothered to clear our table for more than 20 minutes. It was an uncomfortable experience, to say the least.
We wanted to order dessert, but every staff member seemed to avoid making eye contact with us as they passed by our table. Eventually, we had no choice but to walk up and approach someone ourselves to place the dessert order.
As if things couldn't get worse, when we finished our meal and requested the bill, we were once again ignored for more than 15 minutes. It was only after we proactively approached a staff member that we were given a paper bill. We had to go through the same process again to make the payment. We complained at this point, but the staff member who seemed to be the manager was incredibly rude, dismissing our concerns by claiming they were "extremely busy" to cater to us properly.
To add to the overall disappointment, the condition of the restroom was appalling. It was incredibly dirty and emitted a strong, unpleasant odor, giving the impression that it had not been cleaned the entire day.
In summary, I would not recommend this restaurant to others until significant improvements are made in their customer service and overall...
Read moreAn unfortunate dining experience can be deeply disappointing, especially when one has the expectation of enjoying a good meal. In your case, you visited a restaurant intending to savor a Carbonara pasta, a classic Italian dish known for its rich blend of smooth yet distinct flavors, typically including pancetta or guanciale, Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, eggs, and black pepper.
However, your experience was the complete opposite. The dish served to you lacked flavor entirely, indicating something was seriously amiss, either in the preparation or in the quality of the ingredients. Even when you attempted to remedy this by adding more Parmigiano cheese, hoping to enhance the flavor, this effort proved futile. The absence of taste is a significant problem for such an emblematic dish, as each ingredient plays a crucial role in creating a perfect balance between salty, umami flavors, and the subtlety of the pasta itself.
To further complicate matters, the restaurant’s ambiance did not contribute to a pleasant experience. The place was filled with noisy children, which can be disruptive for those looking to enjoy their meal in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. While children are welcome in many settings, proper management of noise and activity is essential to ensure all diners can enjoy their experience.
When the issue with the pasta was brought up to the restaurant’s manager or person in charge, the response was inadequate. The inability or refusal to replace the dish, despite comments on the lack of flavor, is concerning. It is the responsibility of an establishment to address customer concerns in a way that makes them feel valued and respected. The solution to a problem like this could have been to offer a new dish or even consider not charging for the unsatisfactory plate, gestures that can make a significant difference in customer service perception.
In summary, your experience reflects a series of failures both in the product offered and in customer service. Flavorless food, a noisy environment, and the lack of proper attention to customer complaints are issues that any restaurant should avoid to ensure customer satisfaction and return. It’s unfortunate that your visit to this establishment resulted in such a...
