Have been to the cafe a couple times before and was always welcomed with a smile and great hospitality, however, this time my experience was very different. The staff seemed annoyed and didn't really care to acknowledge our presence. They were out of two of the pastries I'd asked for (the espresso banana bread for my husband and vegan oatmeal cookie for myself) so I got the vegan cinnamon swirl and an iced matcha latte. I missed saying that I'd like oat milk but neither did the staff bother to ask for any allergies or what kind of milk I wanted considering I'd just ordered something vegan. I had about 2 sips of the matcha and realised that it wasn't oat milk so went back and told them that I'm lactose intolerant and requested for a replacement. They said they'd have to charge me for another one (I hadn't even had half of the drink so it seemed unreasonable)...I ended up wasting the 5 pounds that I spent on the matcha. When our building experienced a fire, many neighbors came together to support one another during this difficult time. Unfortunately, the staff and management of this establishment refused to cooperate or assist in any meaningful way. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to help stood in stark contrast to the community spirit we desperately needed. Instead of offering support, their passive-aggressive attitude towards the situation was disheartening and unprofessional.
