1.9.22- Flavour packed food prepared by the talented people in the kitchen, served in generous portions with efficiency and care by warm, inclusive, sincere and engaging staff, in a packed restaurant overflowing with joy, excitement, happiness and glee, ¡plus a house white from Valencia! Tsiakkos and Charcoal is my favourite place to spend an evening. Thank you Destiny, and everyone else we had the joy to meet last night, you are ace. love Catherine xxx 11.8.22 "They call me..." wonder of West London, and with an excellent waitress called Tallulah! A sweltering walk over from Tufnell Park to west London, a bottle (or 2) of estrella galicias in the bar next door (Flora´s fine wines) whilst waiting for our table, a heart felt welcome to me and to all her customers from the excellent Destiny (who´s trained her sister so well) and from the rest of the staff, seat outside in a garden, that being full of laughter and cheer from all else there always makes you feel like you´re on holiday and an excellent meal very well prepared, served, and priced: What could be better? A return visit obviously. Make sure to book T&C is deservedly very busy, and long may it reign. Thanks a million yet again Tallulah, Destiny and crew, love and many smiles, Catherine xxx 23.7.22 We hadn´t been back to Tsiakkos & C.since the first lock down and after enjoying our meal so much last night I can´t see why it took us so long to come back, the walk over from Tufnell Park isn´t that long, and this restaurant continues being wonderful, if anything it´s improved!!! The ambiance is excellent, the food fantastic, the homemade starter especially the tara y the hummus are unbeatable, and the portions are so generous that the Greek salad always make a perfect main course for me, the house wine is from Valencia, so suits the food to perfection, and the staff are fabulous, especially Destiny who it was a joy to meet. Thanks for everything to everyone involved, both front and back of house. We won´t leave so a gap between visits next time....
Read moreRight. Where shall I begin with? First of all, I don't get it how this place has such good reviews..Perhaps things have taken a severe turn for the worse lately? I was there to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I even called to book a table thinking yeah it's a proper restaurant(I will explain). It was my first time going there and had no clue, except for the extremely positive reviews what to expect. I saw some outside photos and expected it to be a small but nice place, private with a lively atmosphere - and we didn't mind that idea. Well...when we arrived yeah, it was way smaller than I expected. The atmosphere wasn't very warm and lively as described in the reviews at all, it was very dark, some of the light bulbs were missing, the furniture was like taken from an army canteen -those horribly looking and cheap chairs with metal legs and rivets sticking in your...And that's not all! | The kitchen was open and it was looking terribly..the hobs and grill were all blacken-uncleaned properly for years. Everything looked generally like it was falling apart and haven't been replaced or maintained in 20 years. And then there was the service and the prices.... The menu came, printed on single A4 sheet, dirty and worn.. There was only one staff attending -cooking, cleaning, serving- one man army:) which made everything unprofessional and cumbersome obviously.. We had to get up and chase him to give him the order and then for 3 more times throughout the night because he couldn't be bothered to look at his 2 occupied tables..And we paid a bill of £35 for 2 meals and 2 drinks which was like central london decent restaurant pricing. Are you kidding me?! The food was barely average, that's all I can say. So all in all, please forgive my tone but I cannot hide my disappointment considering this my wedding my...
Read moreThe layout of this place is a bit odd with the open kitchen at the front and the booking manager sitting in the walkway. Space is definitely at a premium here. Our party of 4 adults and 4 children were seated at the rear of the restaurant on a very wonky long table and two wonky benches and one of the benches had a split in it.
The service was very friendly and welcoming pretty much from start to finish. Just be aware that they want you to have the set menu off meze at £35 per person if you are 8 or more. Luckily they made an exception for us we were not aware, had 4 children in our party and it was early so the place was only half full.
The quality of the food was not great at all, especially for the price you are paying. The presentation was poor and so the mains were basically exactly the same but with a different meat option. Every member of our party had something wrong with either their starter or main but none of it was bad enough to complain about. We opted to have deserts somewhere else.
The general atmosphere of the place was quite nice with a good vibe. However we were close to the bar and had to endure glass bottles that were being thrown loudly into a nearby bin.
Afterwards I looked up the food hygiene (scores on the doors) rating for this place and I was not totally surprised to see they got 0 out of 5 stars in January 2024. Wish I had done that before we visited but thankfully nobody has become ill yet.
I have no idea how they have such a high review score from most other reviewers but look up the low scored reviews to get a good idea of...
