My wife( who is Thai) and I decided to go back here after a very lovely evening we had here with friends some months back. We arrived at about 4pm to find nearly all of the tables had notes stuck on them to say that they will be reserved. We spoke to a very lovely man who introduced himself as the manager who told us he would look after us if we decided to stay later than the time our table was reserved for. We bought two drinks but on our 2nd round my wife noticed that there were lipstick stains around the top of her glass. We are both very concerned about covid and have spent most of the last 2 years at home so she asked the manager if he could change the glass. He assured her he would and he would bring the new glass to our table. My wife went towards our table but kept an eye on him. He poured half of the beer out of the glass and then proceeded to wipe the lipstick stain from the glass with a towel and fill it up with beer again and brought it to our table. My wife confessed that she saw him do this and then he apologised profusely and offered us a packet of crisps or nuts. We could not understand why he would not just change the glass. We did not take up his offer of a packet of crisps and continued to enjoy our evening as best we could under the circumstances. We ordered our Thai meal and my wife asked for the meal to be extra spicy as this is how she liked it being Thai. When the meal arrived it was not spicy at all and we had to ask for extra ground chilli's to be added in a side dish. Even for myself it was not spicy at all but it was very nice and I am sure would appeal to most western tastes. The food is not cheap and is comparable price wise to most nearby Thai restaurants if not a little more expensive. The experience we had with changing the glass completely spoiled our night and we will not be...
Read moreWe as a family visit this pub for lunch on many occasions. So we thought this was the ideal place to hold a special birthday party for 30+ guests. A buffet was ordered, it wasn't cheap, £300 plus, but it was a special birthday after all. The food arrived a mixture of sandwiches, chicken wings, cocktail sausages, the usual you would expect. On tasting the sandwiches. The bread was dry, as if it had been left out for hours, a bit of cheese or ham was just put in between two slices of bread, no butter. I spoke to management, I was told the sandwiches had been made, in the morning, cling filmed, and put in the fridge. After some debate she admitted the cling film must have slipped. So the butter slipped too I guess. The sausages were very fatty too. I stirred clear of the chicken..I only wished I had done the same for the sausages. I have been running to the loo every since. I wish they had a minus score, because thats what they deserve. A small refund was given, but that didn't make up for the disappointment, felt by all. We also spent large amounts at the bar. when they started to get more customers, we were push to go, when we were still spending money. My advice don't have a party at this pub. We will not been lunching here...
