London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Surrey Quays 🍺 £3.82 San Miguel ❤️ A standard spoons community boozer. . The Surrey Docks pub is located on a busy junction near Surrey Quays in Rotherhithe. The nearest station is Surrey Quays Overground which is just across the road. . This Wetherspoon’s was built in 1997 and is named after the Surrey Commercial Docks, which were located here from 1807 to 1970. . This is a large low ceilinged pub, there is a “U” shaped bar with a big enough servery slap bang in the middle. All the Wetherspoon’s hallmarks are evident here, a trippy carpet, dark wood panelling and lots of historical facts on the prints around the walls. Out front is a big outside space with plenty of benches for the warmer months. . The beer line up was full of familiar keg favourites plus a good selection of eight cask ales. I had a pint of San Miguel which was decent but I always find it a little gassy. As with all Spoons, price point was cheap at £3.82 which is great. The food like the beer is cheap, as usual there is loads of food options to choose from. . I arrived just after midday on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was busy inside and out. The service wasn’t great, the chap serving me was more interested in the banter going on behind the bar. There was a nice upbeat atmosphere with a good mix of punters from all age groups. I had a group of old boys sat next to me who were putting the world to rights, next to them, there were a group of six lads who were gearing up for a day on the sauce. One thing I love about Spoons pubs is the diversity of people you get in rather than a niche clique. . I can’t really say much different from most other Wetherspoons I have visited. The one thing I will say is that the local community were well represented here, I love the fact the older generation can afford to drink here and catch up with their pals for a chinwag and social interaction. For that Wetherspoons should be applauded. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 22.4.23

Pub went downhill rapidly after last summer. Had a live catapillar on my pizza once and never ordered food again. Expect drunken mums being served whilst their children scream the pub down. Rude security at the weekend and the chubby woman who says she runs the place was really abusive when I told an inexperienced bar person that off premises licence is needed to put unopened cans over the bar. I definitely won't bother to visit the Surrey Docks again now the Printworks has closed. Probably best not to order a Guinness unless you want two or more inches of head instead of pint as my Dad gets upset when served head instead of Guinness and the staff don't care about the presentation of your drinks they would rather treat you as a problem than provide customer service. Unfortunately there are not many local independent pubs in Surrey Docks anymore so unless you specifically want cheap booze with a bad atmosphere you are better off going somewhere else if you want to take a partner out. Artwork is pretty poor compared to the Watch Tower in Lewisham and the Surrey Docks is a lot dirtier carpet and table wise compared to the Watch Tower. The only thing going for this place really is the cheap booze all the atmosphere probably left because the place is untidy with bad management. If you are prepared to get on a the closest decent Battle Cruiser is The Duke on Creek Road via 188 or 199 bit more of a walk on a 47.

A very bad experience. I only interacted with the security man but that was enough. This evening we were passing through the area with some friends and we wanted to buy juice and beer from this location. From the door, the security man told us that we are not allowed with minors inside, we can only sit outside at the tables. But after not even 5 minutes, the same man came to us and took us out into the street to consume the purchased products. I understand and respect your rules, but I leave this review only because I was very disturbed by the arrogant attitude of the security man. So, for future customers, with or without children: if you want to be respected and have a good experience, AVOID this location.

Rude staff, absolutely disgusting service. Asked for a Kopparberg mixed fruits. She replies 'single or double'??? I repeated that I wanted a Kopparberg mixed fruits. She then told me she didn't need to put up with my attitude and that she thought I'd asked for a gin. I repeated a 3rd time Kopparberg mixed fruits and was told I needed to wait while they changed the barrel. Then I get given a Kopparberg strawberry & lime. Take the drink back, 'manager' is called and I ask if I could please have the drink that I asked for. Get told that she has to take into account both sides of the story, I need to make it a bit clearer what I want when I order and that they can't help a mix up due to the many different varieties of Kopparberg on offer!!! They serve 2 types. After the bad experience thought it best to get my partner to order food. He comes back and tells me how the staff were muttering between them and made some derogatory comment about him ordering. Get served the most disgusting, inedible garlic bread. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd put bleach on it out of spite, it was that revolting. My partner took it back and asked the 'manager' to taste it herself to see how awful it was. She told him they're not allowed to do that and that she wasn't going to do anything about it as she had to take into consideration our earlier complaint about the drink. WOW!!! I've never experienced such horrendous customer treatment in all my life. Needless to say, I will never go back there again. Everyone experiences bad service now and again but if I could offer an Oscar for the worst customer experience ever, congratulations to your staff on 9/2/2020,...

On Christmas Eve, a friend was not allowed into the pub as he did not have ID. We accepted this and were finishing cigarettes outside, as soon as the male lit his cigarette the bouncer then decided we were not allowed to smoke there, I then said "oh, okay, why is that because during the year this okay?" He then said "can you see an ashtray on that table? It is not the smoking area. Move" in an unprovoked, terribly rude manner. There was no need for his attitude and he was needlessly rude. I told him he was being rude and asked why he had spoken to me like this, it is Christmas Eve, I hadn't been rude to him there was no need. He proceeded to speak to me as if I were dirt on his shoe, telling me it was not the smoking area as I moved. He then called his manager, which is ridiculous as I am a 5ft2 female, I wasn't shouting, I was just very annoyed and upset I had been spoken to in that manner unprovoked. The manager explained the security was merely doing what he was told to do, which is understandable that he supported his staffs decision. However, he did not witness what had happened, and how rude the staff had been, first in using an archetypal structure to judge my friend, judging him purely on appearance, then being rude to myself for asking a question, whilst doing exactly what he had asked. If it weren't Christmas Eve, I would be more forgiving, but nobody deserves this treatment on a Happy holiday. Thoroughly...
