I had booked ahead on a Friday August evening thinking it would be busy especially as the website suggested you should call if you want to book on Friday or Saturday. When we arrived there were perhaps two or three couples in the outside covered area and no one inside. We chose to sit inside because it wasn’t a very warm evening. Soon after we got there at 8pm one of the couples left and so generally, despite the Latin music, the atmosphere was non existent. The staff were very nice and we got the very generously portioned tapas dishes quickly. We ordered too much actually. Some were particularly nice like the goats cheese and spring greens and the manchego cheese with guava jelly. I also liked the little padron peppers (one dish will be enough for two to share). The patatas bravas didn’t seem all that fresh though. I realise that although food is important when you go out for a meal you’re also going out to people watch and be seen. So I can’t deny I was a little disappointed overall. Perhaps lack of parking puts some off? It’s free after 6.30 on the single yellow line right outside though. It was also not cheap. A meal for four was well over £200 and we didn’t have desserts or anything too fancy. No wonder local restaurants are quiet if they charge that much. We paid that kind of money to go to a Japanese place in Kings Road Chelsea where they assign you your own chef and cook your food in...
Read moreA highly recommended bar and restaurant. The ambience was very appealing and made with a lot of dedication. We had various dishes. The kitchen and service brought them to our table in very good quality, very quickly and almost at the same time. The service was very friendly and quick. Many thanks for that. The parking situation is moderate, but there are some free car parks in the side street. We found the prices to be very reasonable and in relation to the 4 hours we were there and the size of the portion, the average price of £30 was reasonable. Following a good old tradition, no German review without room for improvement. "Tips is included" is a good system, especially when the money is shared between everyone. However, it would be nice if there was a tip box (preferably somewhere under the bar). I would have liked to give a few more pounds. The second thing to note is that the hand dryer is one of those machines (as in many bars) where you dry your hands for 2 minutes and then dry them on your trousers. It would be nice if paper towels were available as an alternative. To summarise, it was a very nice visit and we were happy to stay longer than we had planned. Once again, many thanks to the staff for making our day...
Read moreI had to wait until my second visit before writing a review just to make sure that my first visit wasn't a fluke.
I'm pleased to say that my second visit was as good as the first and in some respects even better.
This time I selected different Tapas dishes and I have to say that they were as delicious as on my previous visit.
The portions are generous and the presentation is appealing, I love the wooden paddles and individual frying pans that they are served in.
The staff are extremely accommodating and focused on making your dining experience a memorable one.
I ordered a bottle of wine; nothing wrong with it other than the it was a little too "bright" for my taste. This is no reason to return a wine but the staff offered to replace the bottle with a different one; I declined as there was nothing wrong with the wine, after 15 minutes the brightness faded or perhaps after the first glass I stopped caring.
I have never encountered such attention to customer satisfaction in all my years of dining out, at the time of writing this review I'm making another reservation for...
