Great food and drinks but the staff is abysmal. Finally found this local towed the end of our stay in London. Dropped in for dinner and we were ignored at the bar for 5 minutes. Finally, one of the patrons asked if we needed help and let us know the procedures of getting food. After being served the food my daughter noticed they did not include avocado on her burger and I got up and told the lady who had served us. She went to the kitchen and then came to our table and told me that the chef said he did put it on the burger. We showed her the food to prove that we weren't lying. She went back to the kitchen and plopped down a plate with a half avocado. No apology, no explanation. My daughter tried to cut the avocado and it was so hard that she could barely cut it, completely unripe. All on all, we had a good time due to the fun people and lively atmosphere. I just wish the people who worked there enjoyed their jobs (they weren't just surly with us but also when interacting with...
Read moreAs far as spoon pubs go this is the best one I have been in. Come here a few times in the last week and I have not had to get out my spoon sanitising wipes to clean the tables. Most spoon pubs I have to wipe the tables from the sticky mess that is left even after staff have cleared the table of glasses and plates. Today a member of staff saw that I had just sat down and came over to wipe my table, if only other spoons did this.
Excellent staff and very accommodating, not like some where asking them a thing like "please clean my table" is taken as an insult and greeted with disdain. The manager nod this pub should be congratulated and looked upon as a mentor for other less capable managers who see it as their duty to befriend their staff and not give any consideration to the paying punters. I have heard this pub is closing so I hope they retain the staff as they know how to operate a pub.
Thanks to all the staff at...
Read moreOk..... this place is a tricky one to describe! Firstly its a Weatherspoons, so food and drink at great prices including managers specials at sub £2 a pint!.
I have been in here a few times and neither one has been the same! Imagine a bar with different cultures, languages and personalities, "not that difficult" i hear you say "that's the norm"..... now imaging that all mixed together, drunk and nuttier than a fruit cake that's been dipped in almond paste and glazed with peanut butter !
If you want an utterly nice chat which turns surreal and then into an argument you wont go wrong in here! Trick is to leg it whilst you are still on good terms.
The staff are great, the food is good including the pizza (yes you read right..... Pizza! in a spoons!) and the pub is clean. It could do with better lighting but ho hum.
Its an interesting place to pop into for a drink and a bite, i look forward tentatively to my next...
