Disappointing Experience – Poor Management and Lack of Respect for Reservations
We visited Tiger’s Diner last month as a group of three. Despite waiting 45 minutes to be seated while multiple walk-ins (especially groups of two) were seated before us, we tried to stay positive and gave the place another chance.
This time, we booked over the phone for 6 PM as a group of two, hoping for a smoother experience. We were even told to arrive at 5:45 PM, so we came early. However, upon arrival, the manager dismissed us outright, assuming we were walk-ins. When we clarified that we had booked, he insisted that nothing is guaranteed and denied ever promising us a table over the phone. He told us to return at 5:45, only for another staff member to later confirm that our names were, in fact, in the reservations book.
When we approached the manager again, he continued to dismiss us, claiming that bookings for three or fewer people don’t exist, despite clear evidence of our reservation. We were left going back and forth with him, trying to get a straight answer. After all that, he finally said he’d try to seat us if we waited another 10 minutes—which felt like an empty promise given how we had already been treated.
We were fasting and had minutes before breaking our fast in an unfamiliar neighborhood, yet we were given no consideration, no apology, and no alternative solution. The lack of professionalism and care from the manager was appalling.
We understand it was busy, but that does not excuse the way we were treated—shooed away, overlooked, and dismissed with no accountability. It’s one thing for a restaurant to be fully booked; it’s another to mislead customers, refuse to take responsibility, and treat them with zero respect. We will not...
Read moreThe man running the place is great, however the young waitresses are absolutely clueless when it comes to service/hospitality. They need a LOT of training. As for the food, the only place you can really compare this to is Chipsy. And if you use Chipsy as a benchmark then tigers diner is really really poor quality/flavour. But of course there arent many beef brisket places nearby so you will have many customers thinking this is good food. Just be aware that once more competitors arrive and customers find out that the quality being served at tigers diner is really poor then things can go downhill fast. Dont be satisfied with this short term success. See the standard that your main competitor (chipsy) has set and strive to be just as good if not better if you want your business to still be here in 10 years time.
Fyi by "poor quality/flavour" what i mean is the meat (especially the lamb neck) has a strong smell to it and it is highly off putting. And most of the meat is not as tender as it should be. Which is why i believe you decide to keep so much fat on it. As for the flavour of the meat itself (without using sauces or coleslaw), it is horrendous. It tastes almost bitter/burnt along with just fat. Ive had the exact same thing at both Chipsy, which is a local competitor and also Holy Smokes on the other side of london. The difference in flavour and quality of the meat is absolutely staggering. And the overall service is just salt on the wound. But again, you can tell the man running the place does care a lot. But i hope you can learn something constructive from this review. Believe me i know what im...
