Definitely some teething issues with the reopening of this place. We were regulars of Tiramisu for years, unfortunately it closed down and is no longer owned by the original owners much to our disappointment! It has been open by the new owners for a couple of months now, so we decided to try it out. We sat at our table and were presented with a menu, itâs slightly more expensive than previous and our favourites are no longer being served (the Sardinian breakfast will be dearly missed), but we decided to give it a try anyway. We asked what sandwiches there were and myself and a friend chose the artichoke and mozzarella sandwich- the lady serving us did not tell us that the sandwich had salami in it and I believe the sign on the fridge does not say so either, thankfully we are both meat eaters so it was not a problem but please be aware when ordering. The sandwich was nice but also had no pricing on the fridge or the menus.
Our main problem was that myself and the friend that ordered the sandwich received it about 15 minutes later, however 30+ minutes went by for the other two people with us and they had no sign of their English breakfast. We had finished ours, along with our tea and coffee and our other friends still did not receive their breakfast for at least 40 minutes. They had to go and ask about it and stated that itâs not ideal when half of us had finished and they are still yet to receive theirs. The staff seemed very young and there wasnât really any management or anyone to take ownership or even apologise, she just said âI will go ask for youâ, it then arrived about 15 minutes later. I really donât understand how it took so long, they got about a shot glass of beans, not even a whole tomato, the eggs were almost raw and they were presented with some sort of hash brown that was like mash potato but the consistency of a dumpling. The bacon and sausage were reportedly nice but it isnât good enough for an ÂŁ11 breakfast. We were really disappointed & we will not be coming back, it just isnât the same as it was before and the service really...
Read moreTiramisu Cafe is not what it used to be. I was aware of the change in management, but I didnât expect such a drastic decline in quality. Unfortunately, the new management have kept the name but not the authenticity of tiramisu that made this place special.
The tiramisu, which used to be a highlight, is now a disappointment. Instead of the rich, mascarpone-based filling, they use something closer to whipped cream. The biscuits were dry and lacked the deep espresso infusion that gives tiramisu its signature flavor. It felt mass-produced and far from the homemade quality and authenticity that Marco and Martine used to provide.
Itâs truly sad to see such a beloved spot lose its charm. Sadly, we wonât be returning. Marco and Martine,...
Read moreI wish I'd read the recent reviews. I went there specifically to take away some tiramisu, which I remembered as being amazing. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened the box, I knew something was wrong. What I had last time was light and fluffy, with a custard layer. This time, it was none of the above, and tasted distinctly average.
It turns out the cafe is under new management. I'm sure the cafe is perfectly fine for other purposes, but the tiramisu was truly disappointing. I wish the cafe had at least changed their name to indicate the change in management. I won't be...
