We arrived late in the evening, and had soups, a plate of main course to share, and soft drinks for two. The soup was understandably almost sold out, and they diluted the last portion of lentil soup in the kitchen to make sure we have enough to eat for two, which is okay considering the hour, and the nature of lentil soup (the last batch of the pan tends to get very dense as lentil settles down), but they told us that they were making some new soup for us, which annoyed me, because I worked in a restaurant for a while myself, am still regularly cooking at home, and saw exactly what was going on there with half full plates going in the kitchen, and coming back full. I would be totally fine with it, if they were honest about it.
Moreover, when I asked for the bill, I knew how much I needed to pay, so I went straight up to the cashier (I came here more often, ordered takeaway several times, and brought some friends to try out some Turkish dishes), but I noticed that I was overcharged 8%. I thought they might have included the tip this time (they typically don't add it, and ask you to choose the amount for yourself), but then I was still asked for a tip. I didn't make a fuss about it as they are usually generous to customers, and still did tip them 10%, because it is not the fault of young people serving that cashier made a possible mistake, but I am not sure if I was an honest mistake.
Overall, I am disappointed about the lowering level of honesty of trade as it was my go to neighborhood restaurant. I understand that restaurants are having a hard time, too, given the economic conjuncture in the UK, but this shouldn't be the way to make up for it. To avoid such disappointments, arrive before 10.00 PM, and ask for an itemized receipt to examine before paying the bill.
Other than that, the dishes are fresh, the portions are good, and the facilities are clean. I haven't had such problems before, and made my friends give them five stars as they ask for reviews, but I update my review based on my most...
Read moreSo my family and I just ate here. Possibly the worst service ever?! It took 10 mins for them to take our order. 30 mins for drinks to arrive after ordering, and 1 hour for food to come! They were not extremely busy as they only had a few tables (around 5).
Service was absolutely awful! Besides the manager there was probably only 1 other member of staff that was decent. There were a total of 5 staff on the shop floor of which 3 didn't seem to speak any English. They all seemed confused, didn't know what they were doing, didn't know what dishes were going to what table. Just a complete disaster! Every time we asked for something they did not understand any English and called the manager or the other waiter which were probably the only 2 people who communicate with customers.
There were another 2 ladies waiting for food for a very long time. They happened to leave at the same time as us and said 'I could've died before I got that food'.
Food was just average. There are much better Turkish restaurants out there so you won't miss this if it's gone. I will never be returning here again!
I also think half the reviews on here are from people they know as there is no way they can have 4.8 stars. Especially after I complained and the manager mentioned the stars on google reviews as if he were on it everyday was a little suspicious...
The owner also only responds to good...
Read moreCame here as a group of 5. We was invited in with very friendly staff from the beginning right up till the end of our meal. We felt comfortable throughout our time eating our meal and the staff always catered to our needs whenever required. Always helpful and available so a big plus to the customer service.
Aesthetically the environment was nice and relaxing to be in and the seating arrangement allowed us all to sit comfortably.
We was given a lovely salad with bread to open our appetites and it was very well made. We accompanied with a mixed starter which worked perfectly amongst our group.
We all ordered a variety of mains but I went with the rib eye steak. The menu allows for a choice between rice or chips so I went with chips and was happy with the choice. The steak was cooked very well according to the requirements I provided and the side of chips and mushrooms complimented the steak very well.
We ended finally with some baklava and Turkish to end off a perfect meal.
The price to quality/food ratio was extremely good. Was pleasantly surprised with the final bill in comparison to the quality of food that was provided.
I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a nice meal with excellent...
