Asian bartender with glasses was EXTREMELY rude, absolutely shocked me and ruined my night, I left my friends early just because of this. He told me because I worked in the shard I thought I was above everyone else (I did not inform him I worked there I’m not sure who he got this information from). Asked him for an amaretto sour he gave me water and told me I should “have some decorum and hydrate”. Absolute disgusting behaviour from him, someone told me they saw him doing coca**ne so maybe this is why he was acting this way. An investigation needs to be done on him, the way he was speaking to me as a customer was appalling. Refused to give me and his own colleague his name when I asked. This was on 8th august after 12am. I hope management take this serious as this guy absolutely should not work there and clearly needs some customer service training. I also asked for the security members name as I was leaving (of african descent), to which he replies “my name is not important”. The way these 2 people behaved on shift was extremely strange and unprofessional. Management please do not hesitate to get in contact with me I will provide a lot more details. But as customers I would definitely find somewhere else to spend your evening, this place is not worth it. The other bartender on shift, Velario on the other hand, was absolutely amazing, making jokes whilst making drinks, giving me and my friends an amazing service. 10/10 rating to him. But the only 2 other people absolutely ruined my night I will not be returning....
Read moreVery small but nicely utilised venue, bar staff were very polite. I am giving this rating solely due to the experience with the person who was managing the venue yesterday evening (29th October).
I attended a private booking for a local artist who had hired the venue for 'an audience with...' birthday/promotion until 8.30pm. An email confirmed this time to be the time it would be vacated. At 8pm, the manager, rudely interrupted her performance, which was being video recorded, and started to insist that she cut the performance as her time was up, which it was not as she had it until 8.30pm.
Not only was he totally unprofessional in doing so in his role as manager, he did not check his facts and his own email confirming the vacation time, he also embarrassed the client in front of her guests and ruined what was a really beautiful evening for the artist's birthday.
All of this because in his mismanagement he doubled booked the venue and had another party of guests who turned up early for their booking waiting outside on the street, whom we learned he never informed them there was a party booked before theirs.
I felt so sorry for the artist. A few of the artist's guests spoke to the manager who's attitude was rude and dismissive, non-accepting of his failures and argumentative at first.
My thoughts are that if you are booking this venue for private hire.... Either make sure you receive confirmation in writing that no other parties are booked on the day of your event or just book somewhere else with a more...
Read moreI wish could properly review this place but upon arrival the security guard was rude, impolite and all around disrespectful to my friend and I, refusing us entry at 10.50pm on a Thursday for reasons he wouldn’t even explain to us.
I tried to politely ask what was wrong and he proceeded to just get angrier so we left.
Disappointing as I have heard great things about this club but apparently the bouncer seems to pick and choose in a mean manor after letting my other 19 year old friends walk in without having their ID checked 30 minutes before hand (they were both girls).
If it was a policy that enforces 21 plus after a certain time I totally understand, but the chap didn’t even bother to look at any form of ID.
Maybe I will return one day and actually get to see what Bermondsey Arts Club is all about and then leave a better review. Or maybe the bouncer will spark my jaw for smiling at him the wrong way. Or maybe I just need...
