Feels like going back home to dad’s sandwiches!
Growing up in my country of origin, my dad always made me my packed lunch. I’d have literally beautiful (and tasty) sandwiches that my high school peers still remember to this day (hey, i used to share my food, right?! 🤣)!
When I walk into West Side Cafe, it feels like coming home every single time!
The choice of breads, spreads, wraps, drinks and sweet treats feels so inviting and looks so amazing, i struggle deciding what to go for. So, my all time favourite: a half and half sandwich on not-too-cooked white baguette, with tuna/sweetcorn/chives on half, chicken/bacon/chives on the other, and cucumbers on top. Tell me how many places around the world, let alone a busy high street in London, accommodate your desires without blinking an eye and a smile on their face?! (Today, for example, the baguette was ready, cut and buttered and i frowned as a bit too cooked… they know me so well, they just changed it to a rawer one! No questions asked! Go on, judge me🤣)
I do not have pictures now, I’d have to add some later… (added a few now!!!) In the meantime I really urge you (seriously not too dramatic!) to go find your favourite sandwich in the West Side Cafe: falafel wraps, toasted, chicken escalope with cheese baguettes, a cheesy ciabatta toastie, or go all sweet with a sprinkly doughnut or go with a healthier option of an oh so good smoothie… awww man, and the vegetable samosa, albeit involves frying… yuuuum! you just must!
And say hello to Brian, he keeps the place...
Read moreThe fresh smoothes are not fresh, and the fruits used were frozen and bitter. There was a sign outside of the Cafe saying Fresh Melon Smoothie for £3. We had 2 x of those smoothies and the owner charged us £7, after telling us special price just for us!! When we placed the order he said he run out of Melons but he will check just to be sure. After going into the kitchen, he comes back saying he still has melons and he will make it for us. We paid him the £7 and left for a walk. The smoothie was extremely bitter, and it tasted like sour strawberry, which is the taste when the fruit isn't fully developed. Also the color of the smoothie was red instead of orange and it had red small seeds inside - looking like strawberry seeds. On our way back from the walk we noticed the sign that said £3 for a Fresh Melon smoothie!! We don't know what was inside our smoothie but it was certainly not Fresh Melon!! Won't be going back there again. The owner should also change his...
