Stepping into the Iraqi restaurant Ya Hela was like entering a world of culinary delight! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like an old friend by the amazing staff. Their warmth and professionalism made me feel instantly at ease. If you want an inviting and top-notch dining experience, Ya Hela is the place to be! 😍✨
The cosy atmosphere at Ya Hela makes you want to stay forever, and I'll definitely be coming back. They've promised to cook a rare dish for me next time, but I'm keeping it a surprise for now. Stay tuned! 😉
Now, let's talk about the food. OMG, every bite was heavenly! These dishes are a must-try and will have you drooling:
Starters: · Burgur Kubbah: A delectable bite that had me wanting more! · Samosa Meat: Crispy perfection with a savoury surprise inside. · Fattoush: Absolutely exceptional, and I couldn't get enough!
Mains: The mains are served with lentil soup, hummus, Jajik, salad, pickles, and freshly made naan bread. Pure indulgence! 🍲🥗🍞 · Lamb Quzi Shank: Tender lamb shank cooked in a special sauce, served with rice and 3 incredible stews. The meat was so soft it fell off the bone beautifully. · Lamb Neck Tashrib: An extraordinary discovery! Tender lamb neck on soaked naan bread, immersed in broth. The meat is so tender it cuts with a fork—absolutely mind-blowing! · Mix Lamb Grill (kofta, tikka, chops, liver): An explosion of flavours! Each bite is melt-in-your-mouth succulent, tender, and packed with incredible taste. · Grilled Sea Bass: Fresh, flaky sea bass topped with a special sauce. I added an incredible pomegranate sauce, prepare to be utterly amazed!
I also had the Ayran, and it was the best I've ever tasted. So creamy, fresh, and perfectly balanced—I had three glasses during dinner! 🥛
To top it all off, the restaurant serves their customers exceptional tea. It's the perfect end to an unforgettable meal.
Don't miss out on this incredible dining experience at Ya Hela. I'll be back...
Read moreI was very excited to try out this place. I absolutely enjoy exotic menus from the Middle East. I was more than disappointed because of two things. 1) the food pictured was unbelievably salty! My god it was like drinking out of the Dead Sea. You can see how over cooked the meat was from the pictures uploaded. I also ordered a grilled chicken for my partner.. it was not great, I am sure it was rushed and not the usual output of the restaurant because its was genuinely off, and ill leave it at that. (We fed it to the bin). I normally always go back for a second time to see if things are different and give the business a chance, however onto my 2) point, the guy pictured behind the counter, went out of his way to make me feel uncomfortable. I over ordered to a total of £60 and even tried to crack a little banter with him just to keep him happy so my order isn't abused by him when I'm not looking, but my god he was upset. Looked me upon and down the moment I walked in. Spoke to me from under his breath, never smiled, at one point he looked like he was going to ask me to leave. I assumed its his nature but the moment a family walked in, he cracked that smile, welcomed them in and attended to them before me despite me being their before them. The chain around my neck and what it symbolises, along with my lack of connection to his culture is the only reason I can find to his poor uncomfortable hospitality. You get 1 Star because I found parking outside the restaurant and another because of the little insight I...
Read moreI've never tried Iraqi food before but Ya Hela has introduced me to how wonderful it is. I say wonderful because it was a true meat feast!
Their most popular item, the lamb kofte kebab had a lovely outer crust yet absolutely broke apart when trying to pick it up. I finally found something more sensitive than vegans. This alone was great however they have speciality lamb dishes with 3x more meat. Now we talking.
Lamb shank - Pure, served with rice, no sauces or spices as such. Just tender, beautiful meat falling off the bone and you'd never complain for wanting more even though it's hella simple.
Lamb neck - now this I could relate to a desi dish because it was another massive chunk of lamb but sat on top of a bed of broken up naan which has soaked up spices. Wow, this was almost like when I have Nihari, naan soaked up except this meat is on another level!
Arabic Shwarma was pretty good though just needed more sauce inside but they have sauces provided anyway so that was fine. The chicken wings were a little dry for my liking.
Service and atmosphere were fantastic, it was pretty busy and loved seeing massive pieces of lamb being eaten up. Very much liked this spot guys, try those lamb dishes and kebabs and you will not be disappointed!
