0-star rating should be a thing. Worst dining experience and I'll never go back again.
This bad review could be avoided simply if the restaurant management team has some self-awareness about the number of bookings/pax they can take at any given time rather than trying their luck at assuming customers will be happy to "squeeze a little" by accepting a reservation that they cannot properly provide for.
I made a dinner reservation (BBQ table) for a party of 3 in advance. However, we were given a BBQ table meant for 2 people upon arrival. Since it's a BBQ table, the actual table space was even lesser since the grill took up about half the table.
This table was sandwiched in between two other tables with very tight space in between tables, and anyone sitting against the wall would have trouble getting out. 2 of us were made to sit on each side of the table where the gaps between tables are, and the third person was seated against the wall with the table pushed so close to him that there was barely any space to maneuver. When I asked for a bigger table, the staff rejected the request saying that the table for 4 was meant for 4 people and that they were fully booked (even though the other reservation(s) was not there yet). Obviously, we were not there to just eat the banchan and two soups, which was pretty much what the table could fit. We were told to move things around and find space when more food was being served when there was NO SPACE at all.
This was not an unforeseen situation where the staff "cannot do anything about it". Yori had the option of rejecting my booking or proposing another time for the booking, but they chose to accept it. This just demonstrates the level of service and the kind of dining experience that they are intending to provide, which is that they don't really care if you are comfortable eating there.
The food is decent, but it is not that great that I will choose to return. There are other better restaurants serving food equally good, with similar pricing, but have better seating arrangements.
If I really have to justify this one star (other than it being the lowest available rating that Google allows me to give), it's for the service staff in that particular shift who knew better than to ask "How's...

This restaurant is near our neighbourhood so we decided to give a try. It was the worst decision ever. My husband and myself had so many Korean and Japanese BBQ all over the world and in London. We have to say that we have never experienced such awful experience in any restaurant in our life. I regretted that I didn’t take any photos of our dishes but you may believe or not believe it is really not the Korean BBQ you like to go to.
We ordered platter for two and the veggies came with was only half of bottom mushroom with it. We half joked maybe they run out of the veggies. The lettuce they gave to us are the ROMANIAN / GEM Lettuce NOT the proper round lettuce for wrapping the meat at all. The GEM lettuce had been sitting in the same plate of marinated spring onion salads so every time when we need to pick up one it is dripping the vinegar in our hands. It is so gross.
We also ordered a cold noodle to share but it came after almost an hour. You can see the noodles are all stuck into one pieces and when my husband started mixing with sauce it literally braking in to small pieces. We got the waitress to asking why she straightaway said it is very normal. We complained saying it is not normal because the noodles not even separate then she got her boss that is also the chef. She apologised and got us another bowl of noodles. The second one was at least look like a bow of normal noodles but the sauce is too over power.
There was no service in the restaurant unlike the positive reviews you guys saw. The restaurant only held two tables including us that time. (We can see they have been busy with deliveryman coming in and out every so often but it definitely not called busy). We have offered some tab waters in a small shot cup and never offered more water. The waitress even used some wet tissue to scrape the grilled pan instead of changing it. When we complained the boss had to asked her to change. We spent £64 for a terrible dining. I hope this restaurant owner is at least honest about what they do to...
Read moreThis is long! Where do I begin, I went with my sister and friend with the mind of having a feast. Jijigo Hackney has always been my favourite and when I found out they had opened a restaurant at Kings Cross I was super happy.
We started with the bulgogi and chicken mandoo, the filling was so generous. Best mandoo I have ever tasted.
This was followed by a medium sized bossam platter, it's a cold serving but it exceeded my expectations. delicious! delicious! 맛있었어요!
Then came the haemul jjammppong, the variety of seafood even the baby sized octopus and mussels were well cooked, the soup wasn't too fishy and the restaurant used udon for the noodle and the texture was purrrfect. I don't generally like noodles but this meal definitely converted me.
This was followed by a serving of 강정 치킨, the sweetness was just right. The chicken was moist and succulent. The kimchi wasn't super salty and was fermented just right for me.
The 사장님 gifted us with a service dish- matang (honey covered sweet potato) this is a starter but can be a dessert option. The texture of the honey coating and softness of the potato just blends without overwhelming your tastebuds with too much sweetness. So good we ordered a 2nd round. I hope matang makes its way to the Hackney menu.
The restaurant is decorated with a rustic wood decor. The table and chairs are made up of unpolished wood but super comfortable. Tables come with a grilling station. The restroom was so clean, I think it needs it's own review.
Lastly our waiter was excellent, there was barely any wait time between the dishes coming out but if you are super hungry and like to eat a combinations dishes at a go or share food the Korean style then my only feedback is that you need to tell the wait staff that you want your food to come out all at once if not you'd be licking your chopsticks in anticipation of...
