Cute restaurant serving Asian fusion food. Atmosphere and service were 10/10. baos: I wasn't blown away by the soft shell crab to be honest - wouldn't order again, I'm not a fan of wasabi tho and it comes with some kind of wasabi mayo. The chicken one was slightly better, mainly due to the absence of wasabi. Sticky aubergine: good and very sweet, I'd recommend getting a rice bowl. They were quite good (eaten with the rice) - perhaps my fave dish. Chicken wings: very crispy, a bit oily but overall I liked them Rice cake with spicy tuna: good dish, again not a fan of spicy mayo or fried rice cubes but they were super crispy and it was a good combo I guess - just not for me. Korean octopus: it's just octopus with a dipping sauce! Good combo. Prawn and scallop dumpling: I was quite disappointed by this dish - the skin of the dumpling was a bit dry and the filling a bit bland in the end. Perhaps it's because I had them after all the spicy mayo, wasabi mayo etc etc but I wanted to love them and just couldn't! Tha cassava cake with ice cream was nice, never had something similar before and I enjoyed it.
Overall I asn't too impressed with the food. I'm tired of having mayo literally everywhere, there's mayos with siracha sauce, or with wasabi, or with something else but it's always mayo. Perhaps Asian fusion and its abuse of mayo just are't my vibe anymore
Having said that, food quality was great, the presentation was also very nice and there was a...
Read moreWe booked a table in advance and arrived about 10 minutes early where we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the door. When seated we were offered a complimentary drink due to having been asked to wait a short while for our table which we happily accepted. For two we ordered the pork and wagyu baos, salmon and rice on the waitress' recommendation, crispy squid with fresh herbs, chicken in a semi spicy sauce and tuna tostadas. The standouts were the chicken and pork bao. We also had a couple of cocktails (Foo Dog, like a margarita and Feng Shui, lychee flavoured) which were fine but were brought at the same time as our other drinks so we had a lot to get through! The food came out in a timely manner and one dish followed another so we were never overwhelmed nor short of food. The only delay came when we had finished these dishes and decided to have a plate of ribs which took a while but the restaurant was busy and we weren't in a rush so no harm done. Overall I'd definitely recommend Yuu Kitchen - the staff are friendly, the food varied and fresh, the ambience buzzy but not too loud and it was well heated on a chilly autumn evening. It was also very Covid safe. We will make a...
Read moreYuu Kitchen has been highly recommended by several of our friends and sadly the overall experience was really average for us…First off, we had a reservation but waited a fairly long time to get seated as a group in front us tried to get a table and actually didn’t have a reservation (nothing wrong with that in general but prioritising customers with a reservation would have been better in my opinion). The overall service was ok but we felt like some of the waitresses weren’t too sure about what they were doing and a few incorrect dishes came to our table whereas these were actually meant for the table next to us. Now, on to the food itself, we ordered two baos each (one duck, two wagyus and a pork belly) and two mains (baby back ribs and pork lechon) + a side of steamed rice with sesame and we still got home hungry! Portions were definitely on the smaller side and everything tasted fairly bland (except the baos which were actually pretty good and well seasoned). Anyway, I’m still putting two stars and not just one because the 50% discount on the food bill made the whole evening a bit more acceptable but otherwise prices are just way too high for the quality you get in the plate. We...
