Aldgate Square provides a pretty patch of green in the middle of the city. There’s a patch of grass, water fountains and many benches to sit on. Although the square isn’t all that big, it’s a small break away from its concrete surrounds and makes for a great lunch spot or a peaceful spot to sit. 🐌 Until May 2023, Aldgate Square is also home to a work of art by Jocelyn McGregor called “Earthlings.” Located between the square and St Botolph's church, the snail sculptures each feature a shell and human limb instead of their usual slimy body. The snails cause you to slow down as you pass and it’s encouraged to perch beside one so it’s okay to let children explore them. After May 2023, a piece by Emii Alrai will replace the snails. Nearby, there’s also a variety of coffee shops and Aldgate underground station. 🚆

Working in the City is quite stressful enough for many every day, and green open public spaces could be the key to unwind and relax during. I really like this small patch of green. During the "dryish" seasson, houndreds come to share the benches and grass while having a quick bite. This square is a fantastic little place to get away from our busy day in the City and get some needed sunlight, some sort of "nature" and community feeling.

bit dead, but with the small space their making an effort, was some street performers, coffee shop with arty exterior, and the panels going listing some real life testimonies of victorian food sellers and info about the different foods on offer was super super interesting, really took me back to that time while reading. also get a selfie on the orange and green translucent panels next to it. well worth a visit.

Pleasant spot a stone's throw from the City and the Tube, with a church for scenery, a grassed area and wide concrete flower-bed edging to sit on (plus a couple of benches, but they're usually taken).

The centrepiece is a small but really nice water feature kids can paddle in that makes use of total internal reflection to illuminate the ground. Fun and educational. :) There's also an eaterie at the edge of the square, though it's not always open.

I can't award it five stars as it's a thoroughfare and therefore a little busier than ideal, but it's relatively tidy and a decent spot to while away...

Lovely place to sit in the city. It does get very crowded as not much green space in the area. Nice little water feature which the kids love playing in after school. A big mixture of people from children playing, people having some food or drinks, city workers relaxing and skateboarders around. Only issue is the cyclists coming through fast and not caring, even though there is a cycle lane right at the side which is between Aldgate Square and the school. They have no care for the children nor do the skateboarders...
