Ordered two pizzas through Uber eats at 19:10. Restaurant accepted, eta 19:50. At 19:40 first Uber driver is allocated to the order, I can see him at Zia Lucia waiting then at 20:00 the order is transferred to another driver. This driver arrives at Zia Lucia 20:10 and at 20:30 he drops the order. The same thing then occurs with three more drivers, the drivers arrive at Zia Lucia, wait and then clearly leave. This occurs until 21:30! I finally manage to get through to a driver who currently has the order on the phone. I ask him what is going on, he tells me that there is a huge amount of Uber eats and Deliveroo drivers outside the restaurant and that he has asked for my order twice and the staff have told him to just drop the order as they are very busy. The restaurant is still producing orders though. I then went onto my Deliveroo app to see that the restaurant is still accepting more orders.... I tried to phone the restaurant about 10 times during this ordeal and the phone was engaged. The same Uber driver then phoned me back and says that he is still waiting and that when a female staff member came out of the restaurant he asked about my order and she completely ignored him. He then advised me to cancel my order with Uber eats. I then had to wait another 20 mins on hold after a very complicated process of trying to get Uber’s telephone number. After explaining the story to Uber they were not very interested, no corrective measures mentioned wrt to Zia Lucia and my order was cancelled and I was refunded. This was now 10pm and we still had no food! Extremely poorly service from mainly Zia Lucia but also Uber eats. Terrible customer experience. Won’t be ordering from Zia Lucia ever again... and although Uber eats may have better promotions than Deliveroo the customer service and general service levels are much better...
Read moreI have been a customer since the opening days in Holloway Road . On Saturday 3rd August, I drove 30minutes to the Hammersmith branch with a friend who was leaving UK the next day to introduce to her the best pizza i've had in London.
The tables were dusty and food marks all over the sticky menu. No matter, we were here to have a good time so I ordred the Leonardo on Charcoal. What I received instead was a white base pizza with just cheese. I was alarmed and told the server that this was not our pizza, and he said, 'it's your pizza', without even looking at it.
When he saw the pizza, he said he forgot to add the ricotta cheese and took our pizza and came back with watery ricotta mess.
Again it was missing the marmarlade jam and was not charcoal so I had to call the server the 3rd time. The server simply did not care. We were the only customers and ordered 1 pizza, which were sent back 3 times?
I did not want to complain anymore, so we just ate the pizza but let me compare it to the Leonardo that I recently had at the Wandsworth branch. Does this look like the same pizza? Does this even make you think that it's from the same chain of restaurant?
After the meal, I was not content with the service and requested the service charge to be removed. However, the server said that the service charge cannot be removed!! So we paid and left.
I was left very embarrassed and had to apologise to my friend for this experience. We could have gone to a local cheap pizza shop and would have had a better pizza and better experience.
I cannot recommend Zia Lucia to anyone anymore and unfortunately will not be...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Hammersmith – Zia Lucia Delivers True Italian Warmth and Flavour
Tucked away in the heart of Hammersmith, Zia Lucia is a place that doesn’t just serve pizza—it serves up an experience. As someone who has lived in Italy for many years, I can say with certainty: this place gets it right.
From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed like a regular. Jacopo’s warmth and easy charm set the tone for the evening—his hospitality is the kind that instantly transports you to a bustling neighbourhood trattoria in Rome or Naples. It’s rare to find such genuinely friendly and tipicamente italiano service in London, but here, it’s at the heart of everything.
The pizza? Outstanding. The dough is where Zia Lucia truly shines—beautifully textured, full of character, and a perfect base for the bold, quality toppings. I had the “Jacopo” (how could I not?)—a fantastic combination of salame piccante, gorgonzola, and red onions. Spicy, creamy, sweet, and sharp in all the right places. Ottimo! The tomatoes taste like they’ve been picked in the sun, and every ingredient sings.
We finished with a light, elegant tiramisu—fluffy, not too sweet or heavy—followed by a crisp grappa, rounding off the meal with a nod to tradition.
Zia Lucia in Hammersmith is a hidden gem I’d recommend to anyone in London who wants a slice of authentic Italian food and flair. And if you’re lucky enough to be served by Jacopo, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve just had dinner back home in Italy.
PS. I didn’t think to take a photo until I was nearly finished, so let that be a testament...
