I've been here a few times because a theatre company I follow put events on upstairs. I like the place, overall, and the staff have always been good.

My visit today, however, has left me very unhappy. I went in and asked for two gin and tonics, which cost £14.80 in total. Went upstairs and ordered two more after finishing, and they cost £12.60, so I assumed that the first person gave me doubles without checking. I then ordered two more doubles, this time they cost £16.80 in total.

I asked the bar man why I had paid three different prices for the same drinks (well, apart from the single), he said MAYBE the downstairs till was still set up on weekday prices, which are cheaper.

It was all kind of brushed off in an 'oh well, these things happen' way. It's a shame, because I would be put off going again as I don't know how much I'll end up paying, especially because the drinks prices aren't really displayed...

(3 people lunchtime specials)

After a 40 min wait for food we enquired how much longer the food would be and was told it was our fault because we ordered separately? Clearly ordering at the same bar together, with the same person, at the same time, for the same table number isn't obvious enough?? Never really been blamed for my food being late before??? To top it all off, the spurious service won hands down over and above the harrowing ordeal that eventually found table no3 cunningly disguised as food! Shame really the food and the service used to be on point, I hope it was just an 'off day' but I really won't be wasting any more of my money...

A good old pub, great atmosphere, Manchester vibe, good selection of soft and hard drinks. Many TV screens for sport etc. Front windows open wide to allow good flow of fresh air in these Civid19 conditions. Situated close to town centre with great bus routes to local areas. Bar staff were excellent and made you feel like a local of theirs from 1st visit! Great seating arrangement for intimate or large group gatherings. Just pop in and enjoy! Beer ratings 🍻 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prices ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Clientele ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Staff ...

Always been a decent pub in the town centre but only recently called in after a good amount of time lockdown etc. Looks like they have a good few things going on throughout the month and the pub was quite busy when I visited. I have to say I was not a fan of Holts lager years ago but it's come on leaps and bounds and its now a good decent pint. Standards look high on keeping the pub clean and the bar staff were friendly overall would definitely recommend a visit.

Wonderful Joseph Holt pub a short walk from Albert Sq. Had my first Joe Holt's bitter 49 years ago and still love it. Lovely pub with a small roof terrace. Too many TV'S for Madge. Flat Eric loves the ambieance and beer. Holt famiky still run this local brewery and spend their profits on their pubs. Great value food and meal deals..Curry Thursday or Fish Friday. Sunday roast. Well worth a visit.

Only planned on staying for one but then seen some patrons having and food and decided to try their curry offer- this was simple but just what i wanted after a long walk around Manchester. Staff were lovely and showed a keen interest about our visit and even complimented my band tshirt , will be back again I believe this pub is part of a chain
