The decoration and scenery here is great, you can see the uni’s classic architecture through the windows. Actually I always like to come to this place. However, what makes me feel upset today is the service here. When I wanna made an order, a mid-age black lady sternly scold me that I should take my outside food away( only an orange), and criticize me loudly for minutes, let me feel I was like a student who make big mistakes and be punished to stand in front of her. Not only that, when I pronounced Loosed Leaf as ‘Loosed Diff’ because of anxiety, she repeated ‘LEAF’ loudly and impatiently, which let me feel a bit aggressive. I just wanna read some papers here, that’s all I want. But after that awful experience, I even can’t concentrate on my own work anymore for the whole afternoon but just feel upset and guilty. Also, I noticed there are some outside food on table12 too, but why did she only treat me like that? I just wonder am I really do something so wrong? Or did she treat me like that only because I am ethnic minority? I mean I’ll follow rules here if someone told it to me but why treat me in a way that so mean? I’d appreciate it if anyone can give me an explanation.

Only packet food here so I don't think you could really call it a "bistro". The atmosphere is lovely given that it's in the old library but it's full of students/staff working on laptops and taking up entire 4 person tables by themselves (and putting their bags on the chairs next to them as a passive aggressive "don't sit here") Atmosphere is not friendly.

We were here during university summer break, so probably a lot quieter then normal. Very calm and comfortable in the old science library. High quality food and drink. Will go again. Will go again

Beautiful cafe with very tasty and only slightly expensive food and drink - if you can find somewhere to sit! Unfortunately since they've started putting signs outside, students have found it and will camp sofas for the whole day with one coffee. Still, when it's quiet or if you're...
