Derby Brewery Arms — Restaurant in Manchester

Gone seriously down hill, one of the worst boozers going. Been a few times over the past couple of years and everytime it gets worse and worse. Attended recently and fancied a pint of Holt’s Bitter, being that it’s a traditional Joseph Holt’s pub. The barman informed me he’d never tried pulling a pint of bitter and didn’t know how. He said he only knew how to pull a pint of lager.

He then proceeded to pull me a pint of lager that tasted like marsdens vinegar. After taking it back for a fresh pint, he had to pull 4 lifeless pints before we got a ‘decent one’, and even that was as flat as a witches tit.

To top it off they activated an industrial strength smoke machine for some reason and absolutely filled the place with smoke. Nearly wiping out 2 asthmatics.

Next time I fancy a pint in there, I’ll save some money and just get the Mrs to pepper spray me and do us a pint of the neighbours cat...

Incredible pub and events space. The DBA hosts so many amazing events where people are beaming with smiles dancing. The sound system is fantastic, the crowd it attracts is welcoming, kind, open, inclusive and accepting of others. The staff are gorgeous human beings who put a huge amount of love into the place. During the week, expect a calmer, normal pub vibe where you can chill out with mates, and then on weekends you can party. Often, you can do both where there is music in the back room and quieter seated areas at the front. Drinks are good value and there is a wide selection. I have also attended art therapy workshops here during the weekdays which have been really interesting and rewarding, and so different to be able to to that in a pub setting. Music was great, service was kinda slow, could do with a longer bar with more bar staff. Annoyingly the entire venue was boiling hot, with fans stationed throughout - but they weren’t on. Asked multiple times for them to be put on, got told they were on a timer or that they didn’t work. Either way, it’s annoying.
