Visited for the first time today (15/07/18). The place is easy to find and is wheelchair accessible which is great. There are a few two-seater tables outside which would be a good choice if you’re visiting for drinks, probably not as suitable for dining as it’s pretty close to the street. The wine menu offers a rich selection of wines to pair with your meal. If you’re a white wine lover I’d definitely recommend Ondas del Alma- very fresh, smooth, light tasting wine with the same alcohol content as a crisp, dry one. The athmosphere is relaxed and comforting, very cosy. The staff are friendly and attentive and ensure your satisfaction with the experience at the restaurant. Now about the food, as it is most important. First we ordered 3 tapas, which were on a deal for £10.99: Patatas bravas, Chorizo al vino and beef skewers. The skewers were very tasty and the meet was perfectly cooked. Personally I wasn’t very impressed with the patatas bravas as it seemed if they were just new potatoes halved and roasted, served with tomato sauce with paprika; where’s the authentic patatas bravas are pre-boiled and deep fried which gives them the signature crispiness on the outside. I suppose it might be an aim to offer a healthier version by roasting the potatoes, but that turns them into roasted potatoes, not patatas bravas. The chorizo was small chorizo sausages instead of slices which caused them to be soggy and soft instead of the signature firm chorizo slices. Moving on, we ordered octopus with potatoes and calamari, which were both amazing, served with beautiful agli-oli and paprika tomato sauce (same as patatas bravas one). We also ordered mains: seafood paella and salmon and lobster skewers with rice. The paella was great! It was cooked to perfection, packed with fresh seafood and delicate saffron. The skewers were truelly amazing- the crispy salmon skin contrasting with the soft, juicy salmon meat and flavourful lobster made my day! Served with white wine sauce- simply perfect. We finished it off with a delicious chocolate cake served with sweetened condensed milk and vanilla bean ice cream which was honestly the best chocolate cake I’ve had so far. In total for 5 tapas, 2 mains, bottle of wine, dessert and coffee we paid £90, which is great. We would definitely revisit...
Read moreThis year I have visited several different regions of Spain and eaten some of the best food I have ever had, last night I went to Evuna and experienced the complete opposite (Yes I understand the quality of ingredients may differ being in the UK). There was a table of 20 of us and we chose the sharing option, which is approximately £35 per head. Every 'Hot tapas' option was clearly microwaved, the meatballs were mushy and flavourless, not to mention the fact that there was only enough for one meat ball per person. The chicken in a creamy sauce was the most least Spanish thing I have ever eaten, calamari rings were dripping in oil. The cold meat board at the start was so stingy it was enough for 2 people (not 5/6) Then we had the paella, I would like to add Paella is my favourite dish of all time, I have eaten it all over Spain and had it at some lovely restaurants here in the UK.. This paella was an insult to Spanish people. It was sloppy, overcooked, way too wet, the chicken was dry, the chorizo was so overcooked it was actually mushy, there was no crispy/ golden layer (socarrat or torraet) at the bottom of the dish (suggesting it was microwaved) and overall just tasteless. If you like overcooked rice drenched in chicken stock then you would like this. I would highly suggest to avoid this restaurant, it's insulting to anyone from Spain. I would say this resembles a Spanish...
Read moreBeen to Evuna few years ago, this place has now gone downhill. On arrival our table was set for 4 instead of 5 people, staff very surprised that I booked for 4 wine tasting and tapas. The food was poor, everything beige, and looking tired. The wine pairing was average with barely any information given during service. We got constantly reminded that they needed the table back. Never again
In response to Jane Dowler, thank you for completely disregarding the fact that the food was very poor and that the table was not ready for 5 but 4 people. On your website, there is no mention that tasting of 4 wines is for larger groups. You are correct that initial enquiry was for full wine tasting with food, but i have been told it is for 6 people and over. The tasting of 4 was without food but i always said we will order tapas separately. That was the information I got from a member of stuff over the phone. I rang few times because Evuna failed to call me back. Poor service and even worse food. Your response and claiming that i was angry is as poor as our experience. It is really disappointing you had to falsely accuse me of this. We were celebrating birthdays and arrived happy as ever. I have my 4 friends to support that.Thank you...
