REVIEW OF THE HOTEL: The fire alarm went off at 5am- nobody came or was reachable by the phone! We had to call the fire department by our selves, when the drunk landlady came (after the fire fighters woke her up cause the fire alarm did not do the job) she was rude and yelled at one of the guests. Then the fire alarm went off again at 8:20,8,30, and 9. I barely slept. Plus don’t forget it’s above a pub so it’s extremely noisy and it smells like piss downstairs!!!! Of course no refund was offered! When we asked we were asked if we would rather go somewhere else (at 5:45 am after freezing outside!!) And forget about early check in!!!! No one is there cz it is a PUB!!

There used to be two pubs on Shudehill called The Turks Head so one was called the Lower and the other the Higher. The later was long since demolished. The Lower Turks Head was closed for a good while but reopened a few years back after a good refurb. Martin Meerkat's first visit but I have visited many times for a delicious pint of Joe Holt's. They also served Chorlton's Bootleg on this visit. Two good sized rooms downstairs with another room upstairs. Great location opposite Shudehill transport interchange and three minutes walk from Victoria. Have eaten here in the past. Good pub.

Very good pub about twenty minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. Not too busy after the Spurs game at the Etihad. The pub was purchased by Joseph Holt in 2021 after a period of closure and reopened in July 2021. It had originally reopened in August 2013 after 22 years of initial closure. There are several small drinking areas and alcoves on the ground floor off the main bar as well as an upstairs drinking area that leads to a roof terrace. The raised drinking pews opposite the bar are unique for the area.

We arrived at 3pm to check in only to be told that our rooms had been double booked even though we had already paid in full! The assistant manager, a young lady tried to sort it but unfortunately the actual manager was a complete bell end and tried to shove us in what seemed to be a hostel type room with no windows. After about an hour and a half she brought us our money back and said if we managed to find somewhere let her know and they would pay the difference. We searched about and found one but when we requested to see the lady again a bald man(the manager) came and said very rudely that they wasnt willing to help and there was no point in us hanging around! He was very abrupt and nasty with us. This whole experience has been awful and resulted in us missing a concert as we was unable to take our cases and bags in the arena with us so not only was we stuck 2 hours away from home with no where to stay, we also missed out on a once in a life time opportunity and wasted money on tickets we was unable to use! Absolutely ridiculous from start to finish and wouldn't ever recommend this hotel to anyone even after staying here...

Absolutely disgrace, I'm a disabled person who was refused a pint because the person in charge decided I had to much to drink. I told her I had 4 pints all day but was refused being served a pint of bitter. I was told that I stumbled into the pub, this being the reason for not being served by. I then pointed out to the lady in charge of the bar that my right leg was 2" sorter than my left leg and that I had a problem walking. I was told because I was disabled that if iwas served with an pint and fell the pub would be responsible. So it seems to me that if you are disabled you are still being victimised. After leaving the Turks had I had 3 pints of Blonde bitter. When ordering the 3rd pint I asked the gent serving me if I was drunk. He told me that he knew that I had a few pints but no...
