We reserved a table for 2 at 19:30 for a meal. We arrived about 10 minutes early and there was a mix up with the tables because we were sent to the wrong one. We offered to move but the staff didn’t really acknowledge this and then spent the next 10 minutes rearranging the table reservations for other customers. No menus on table, no menus offered to us, we had to find them ourselves.

After a shaky start the staff were friendly, efficient and worked well together. Food didn’t take too long to come, although our mains did come once we’d only just finished our starter. Not a big deal though.

We didn’t realise but it turns out on Monday you get 50% off your food bill. This was much appreciated as I feel the regular price of items offers quite poor value. For example, the lamb skewers are £11.50 (£5.75 on Monday) and you get 1 flatbread, 2 skewers with 3/4 pieces of lamb, a bit of salad and some couscous. That is acceptable at the reduced price but I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it. Caesar salad was tasty, but again, regular prices seem a bit much, however with 50% off it is good value. My friend was pleased with his steak.

The taste and quality of the food is pretty good, but for some of dishes there clearly isn’t an acceptable ratio of price:quantity, e.g one flatbread for £11.50.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at Trof and it has a nice atmosphere and is good for having a conversation over your meal as background noise and music isn’t too loud.

We would probably visit again but only on a Monday when the prices for food are more reasonable. I feel like the regular prices offer poor value, especially when compared to other places in town of a...

Dining Experience @ Trof. . A dandy den of indulgence, a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. . Ambience is rustic and industrial, harkening back to the good ole days. The warmly lit place is adorned with eclectic light fixtures and sturdy cushioned wooden furnishings. The entrance is framed with red bricks and hanging green plants. . Service is friendly, with staff taking the effort to ensure guests are enjoying themselves. They engage in conversation, and clean up efficiently when diners leave. . Food is classic British English pub grub, hearty and filling plates best paired with their exquisite beer selection. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are affordable, budget about GBP £14 per person. . Fresh off the flight, and a little jet-lagged, the Tea Builder's Brew (GBP £2.25) with a spot of milk really hit the spot. Robust with earthy savoury flavour, this warm beverage was most welcome. . Heard they offered one of the best Full English Breakfast (GBP £11.50) in town, and it certainly didn't disappoint. . A heaping plate which included crisp toasted white bread with smoky bready sweet flavour; soft baked beans in tomato sauce with vegetal earthy sweet flavour; 2 fried eggs with eggy savoury sweet flavour. . Also crisp potato hashbrown with starchy salty sweet savoury flavour; snappy lincolnshire pork sausage with smoky meaty savoury salty flavour; chewy grilled portobello mushroom with vegetal earthy salty flavour; and crispy pork back bacon with smoky meaty salty savoury flavour. . Finished with black pudding (a sausage of beef blood, pork fat, and oatmeal), tender with a mineral savoury salty earthy flavour. A...

My sister and I + our dog came here yesterday (08/03/25) I found Trof after googling "dog friendly restaurants in Manchester" and the menu immediately appealed to my sister and I. We booked a table for 4:45 and showed up a couple of minutes before, we were immediately taken to our table and our dog was even allowed on the chair which was really nice.

For starters we ordered the crispy potatoes + the cheese & leek croquettes. When the starters came out they accidentally gave us Korean Chicken instead of the croquettes and when I told them this they let us keep the Korean Chicken for free! The crispy potatoes were utterly amazing, super crunchy and the sauce on top was perfect. The Korean Chicken while too spicy for my sister & I it had a crispy coating with a soft inside. My cheese & leek croquettes were the best out of the starters, absolutely covered in cheese on top and the inside was gooey and unctous. For mains my sister ordered the cheeseburger while I went with the half chicken. My sister really enjoyed her cheeseburger. My half chicken was so incredibly filling, the chicken itself was tender and the gravy was the perfect accompaniment to it; only slight downsides were the chips/fries aren't anything special here (they're decent don't get me wrong just not amazing) and my chicken could've done with more seasoning (it wasn't bland or tasteless by any means just needed a little extra oomph)

Everyone was incredibly nice at Trof, they're all a credit to the business. The inside was really warm and inviting and clean too. We are definitely...
