I finally decided to try out Garden of Peach, a place I walk past daily on my way to work. Here's my detailed review, covering the atmosphere, service, and food, to help you decide if this dining spot is for you.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Garden of Peach is serene, especially if you visit early. Although the layout is simple and the space is small, it’s designed to feel spacious without crowding. However, there was a table near the bar cluttered with papers and fliers, which detracted from the otherwise pleasant setting. A quick tidy-up could easily enhance this area. Overall, the atmosphere is delightful and welcoming.
Service: The service was impeccable, likely because it wasn’t busy during my visit. The food and drinks were served promptly, and the staff balanced friendliness with a respectful distance, allowing me to enjoy my meal in peace while still being attentive. I appreciated that they were there if needed but didn’t intrude, enhancing the tranquil environment.
Food and Drink: The food and drink were equally impressive. Although the menu is small, there’s an extensive takeaway menu, and I’m sure they’d accommodate requests from it if asked.
For drinks, I started with a cold Bubble Tea, which had a pleasant flavor—not too sweet—and the boba had a perfect chewiness. My second drink was a Soju Mojito, a refreshing and zesty cocktail with mint and lime. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day, and I could easily have had several more.
As for the food, I chose the Yansu Chicken and Vegetable Fritters as my starters. Both had a lovely crispy texture without being oily. The Yansu Chicken came with a mayo-like sauce, and the Vegetable Fritters had a sweet and tangy yellow sauce—both were delicious and paired well with the crispy bites.
For my main course, I had the Beef Ramen. Although I missed the chili symbol on the menu, the spice level was a delightful surprise. The broth was flavorful without being overly salty, and the chili oil added a nice kick. The beef was tender, falling apart yet easy to pick up with chopsticks. The toppings of sweet potato and bok choy were decent, but the noodles were the highlight—chewy and thin, perfect on their own. I even added some Yansu Chicken to the ramen, which complemented the dish wonderfully.
Pricing: For two drinks, two sides, and one ramen, the total came to £40. While this might not suit everyone's budget, as a foodie, I found it worth every penny. The only downside is the parking situation; there’s no dedicated car park, so finding a spot nearby might be challenging during busy times.
Overall, I give Garden of Peach a solid 5-star rating. It’s a charming spot with great food, excellent service, and a relaxing atmosphere. If you’re willing to explore new dining experiences, I highly recommend...
Read moreI read the reviews here with great interest given most are 5*. That’s quite the acclaim. So we thought we’d give it a go. This used to be the old Chorlton Coriander restaurant and while the current owners have added a little paint, it’s desperately in need of more attention. Holes in ceilings and walls where fixtures have been removed and not replaced or repaired, and general poor repair make the place feel somewhat low rent. Still, we’d seen the good reviews so stayed and we were attended to by a nice chap that made us feel welcome and gave us time to review and place our order. 5 items on the menu. Sometimes this will mean they do 5 things very well and have no need of cluttered long menus. I’ll save you time, the food I ate, the beef ramen, was lovely. My partner had a vegetarian dish which he described as bland and fast food, the Fritto misto , which was a shame. There were some mishaps with cutlery but overall I found the experience pleasant and the cost wasn’t expensive at all. It’s an odd setup though with the staff spending much of their time on laptops in the open restaurant, with two tables in particular pushed together next to the bar, a young man and girl tapping away at keyboards surrounded by clutter and office paraphernalia. Just odd in a restaurant setting. I’m not slating the place, it’s clearly a startup and the food was fine, but they really need to work on the environment and making it feel less of an in and out fast food restaurant as I think with one or two additions to the menu to take it from ok to interesting and some fixing up to the room it could do quite well. Oh and we also noticed, rather unusually, the restaurant allows...
Read moreThis is another authentic Taiwanese food restaurant in Manchester. It's run by Hong Konger. It opened eight months ago.
Thanks for the Hong Kong emigrants, they bring into the vast kinds of Asian Foods that let the Hong Konger immerse in their memories of home-sicks.
Compared with other Taiwanese food restaurants in Manchester, the Garden of Peach specializes in more exquisite ones. That means for the big-stomach gourmets, you have to fill yourselves by at least three or four dishes for two.
Unfortunately, the most popular " Taiwanese Breef Ramen was sold out very early today.
The braised beef, tendon and trip platter is a must to order. This platter is one of the signature dishes. The other is the Yansu Chicken Ramen.
If these can't fill yourselves, the Bao Bun with Braied Pork can be taken into...
