Huqqa Lounge — Restaurant in Manchester

I decided to try this place out yesterday, even after reading all the recent reviews. I have to say don't knock it until you've tried it. It's one of the best places in Rusholme. The inside of the restaurant looks amazing, once you walk in you forget that you're in Rusholme. It's so tastefully designed and really allows you to sit comfortably without another diners chair hitting yours. There's enough room between tables that you can have you own conversations and not be disturbed by others.

Food here is amazing. I ordered the Cheese Bourak (Spring rolls filled with cheese) and King Prawns as Starters, and for Mains I had the dish of the day, Lamb Shank which was accompanied with Brown Rice and salad, however I was given the option to have either rice or fries. The starters were amazing, and came out right away, the Cheese Bourak was at perfect temperature and the King Prawns were served in a delicious sauce, that with a squeeze of fresh lemon really brought out the flavours.

There was little to no delay in the Mains, where the Lamb Shank was perfectly cooked, tender pieces of Lamb, just falling off the bone. The flavours we're amazing and although the waiter did bring over a selection of dipping sauces, I didn't need them.

And then onto my favorite part of the meal, dessert. I ordered a crepe, but asked for less nutella as I didn't want to overload my sweet tooth, I also ordered a Mocktail while I was eating and wanted to finish off with a good old cup of tea.

The Mocktail was perfect, fresh strawberries, mint and lime, perfectly complemented my meal. The Crepe was nice and hot when it arrive along with my Tea and a pot of hot milk on the side (I asked for this). The crepe tasted amazing, not too sweet and tasted great.

As I was leaving one of the staff asked me if I would like to try some of the Gelato before I left. As a bit of a pallet cleanser, well from there selection of 24 different gelatos, which I was told are made fresh on site, I tried the Mango, Raspberry and White Chocolate and Bueno. And let me tell you they we're amazing. The Raspberry and White Chocolate tastes just like the old school raspberry ripple, which you can't get these days.

Definitely will be back, and I will be trying one of their cheesecakes next time.

Really disappointed with the experience in all honesty.

Decor is lovely & a nice spacious place.

Both shisha’s came out on time but was completely flavourless (starbuzz flavour with a fresh head), coal changes were so far apart that when the coal changer finally came to sorting out our coals, he had to spend over 10 mins getting the shisha going again because it wasn’t putting out any smoke.

Ordered tea for 4 people, 45 mins later and after asking 3 different staff over a period of 45 mins where the tea was it finally showed up just as we was about to leave so we just asked them to take it back and give us a refund.

Staff member came back and offered us the tea on the house alongside a free cheesecake slice as an apology for the wait which was a nice gesture even though we still didn’t drink the tea.

When we left we went to the till to get our refund, met by the manager who was so rude about the whole situation.

When we informed her of the refund situation she laughed at us and said “nice try” as if as was some kind of joke 🤨 followed up by her saying “there was no refund authorised all decisions run through me

I had to insist her to speak to her staff and once hearing that what we was saying was true her smug face dropped very quickly and she headed over to the till without saying a word and gave us our money back.

Last week me and friends decided to visit this lounge which apparently seems really nice. We were almost 7 people , 4 of us went before us and other 3 were late , when we entered the restaurant the hosting guy asked us that you need to order first ( which we were ok about ) then he said you need to book one shisha for two people and every individual needs to buy a drink from the menu which is compulsory. Whereas , other three friends of us were still late we asked them let us sit inside and we will wait for them and then decide what to order and the team of two three people refused us that and we had to wait outside in cold which was really cold. After waiting we decided to go inside and order two shisha and 4 drinks which were bad as the management. One of the shisha was double apple and it didnt have any smoke or taste i asked the guy who refreshes the coal he didnt even respond to my request and left like he was there by no choice. Indeed we had to leave and the management didnt care about it also whereas i told them about my satisfaction , as soon as our friends arrived we left because they were forcing them to order 2 more shishas 😤 and upon requesting anything it was denied.
