Hi all,
I will probably update with more detail but needed a quick review for now on this one.
Service is abysmal for this type of venue. We were one of 6 tables so I have even allowed for a busy night. This is really not an excuse at the best of times but just so you know I'm trying to be fair here.
No personal attention, slow and forgotten. Best line of the night was, "The food may take awhile, but it will come soon". The starter and main came in good time but the cutlery was always late.
Starters were ok but the salad was wilting slightly which was disappointing.
Mains were ok. I have read similar reviews for poor choice of cutlery provided with the Crab but if I'm honest, what you could taken additionally from the claws wouldn't enhance the meal anymore in my opinion.
Old glasses will be used for new drinks throughout and any signs of table service stopped after the mains were served.
After allowing 40 minutes after the main with no drinks on the table or option of a desert I made the decision to approach the bar myself and order 2 Lattes.
When the drinks were brought to the table there was still no offer of desert now 50 minutes in. We had to ask for desserts. Good job I had great company.
Desserts came shortly after..
I like to share my experiences whilst also growing from the feedback from my own reviews .. It works both ways I suppose.
I normally like to allow for the full experience, taking one for the team where needed. Feedback has said to express my concerns as they happen so I have listened and allowed for this to make a difference.
Desserts
After attempting to break into my sponge dessert which eventually gave into my tea spoon we agreed that it was just to solid, almost frozen and extremely dry.
I tried for roughly 5 minutes to get the attention of a waiter to no success. This became an amusing factor in the end, almost like a game of how much attention can you draw to yourself before feeling uncomfortable yourself.. this didn't take much if I'm honest.
I returned the dessert to a member of staff myself.
I was asked whether I would like my feedback to be given to the chef to which I said I thought it would be a good idea.
Feedback from the chef was, "that is how it was supposed to be". I was asked if I would like different cutlery to be able to cut into it though..
I'll just leave that there.
I asked for the bill minus the returned inedible dessert and service charge of 12.5% which was £18.
The first bill returned with the dessert still on. I confirmed again that I wanted the dessert and service charge removing.
The last bill returned with the dessert removed but still showing the service charge. The bill was paid minus the service charge which didn't need further challenge despite it showing on the receipt.
The service here is just poor. There was no checks to see if everything was ok and after the mains were served the service with no exaggeration was none existent.
Cracks were showing throughout with late cutlery and old glasses used for new drinks.
This isn't a cheap meal so you expect more than below basic in terms of food and service.
No management which reflected in staff behaviour as well.
Poor show old chaps must try much harder to get past these reviews that seem to just keep coming.. Your customers are telling you but your just not listening...
Read moreThis was my second visit to the restaurant. My first visit was last year where it was a decent enjoyable experience. I decided to go again with my friends, this time we decided to sit outside. We were already ready to order and our waiter was ready to serve us. We wanted a penne arrabbiata, with a burrata on the side, an arcini, truffle pasta and garlic focaccia.
I originally ordered the truffle pasta just saying “truffle pasta” and the waiter corrected me saying truffle with mushroom. I agreed and we asked her if the pasta has any cream to it as it seemed dry in the pictures. She said it does and we went through with it. When we got the bill, we were charged with a £7.5 cover fee which we didn’t understand, we asked the waiter to clarify and was not able to and so we just decided to google it.
Afterwards, we got our first dish which was the burrata and it was incorrect. We ordered a plain burrata but got a burrata salad instead. Having already paid we decided to keep it since it was not a big deal. Then we got our penne arrabbiata and the “truffle mushroom” which we assumed was pasta but turned out it was pizza. I expressed my concern that there was a misunderstanding and we wanted a pasta, which I’m sure I clarified, unfortunately the waiter quickly got defensive saying she asked me twice. She did mention that she did NOT say “pasta” or pizza. Which was exactly my point, we said pasta. She started talking in a rude manner and slowly raising her voice. My friends said to let it go and we said ok.
After we tried talking to the “manager.” We asked what the cover fee was for, after understanding we decided to express our concern regarding the incident with the waiter and the “manager” directly said “Why didn’t you take it back?” I told him that the waiter did not allow for that and that her attitude was getting disrespectful. He wasn’t that helpful and just asked if we wanted our food to take away and in a manner that seemed like rushing us out, when it was clear our food was not even halfway done. After not feeling welcome we took our food to go and left.
Overall, the food was delicious and I have previously visited two other branches in Saudi Arabia , both Khobar and Riyadh. The service is top tier compared to this branch. I just don’t appreciate the disrespect and defensiveness that ruined our night over a small...

With its charming ambiance, exceptional food, and warm hospitality, this restaurant has undoubtedly become a favorite spot for my family and me.
On our first visit, we were greeted by Yolanda with exceptional service and treated to an array of incredibly delicious dishes. From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff made us feel welcome and attended to our needs with care. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, perfect for a leisurely lunch with loved ones.
The food, without a doubt, was the highlight of the experience. L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele’s pizzas are truly a cut above the rest, with each bite bursting with flavor and authenticity. From classic Margherita to more adventurous toppings, every pizza we tried was a delight to the taste buds. And let’s not forget about the desserts – their Nutella and pistachio offerings were simply divine, providing the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
Our second visit was just as memorable, if not more so, as we celebrated my father’s birthday in style. To make the occasion even more special, we brought along Romeo, a furry friend we occasionally care for. Despite having a dog in tow, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, ensuring that both humans and canine felt right at home.
What truly sets L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele apart is not just the outstanding food, but also the genuine warmth and humility of the staff. Throughout both visits, the service was impeccable, with each member of the team displaying a level of care and attentiveness that is increasingly rare to find in today’s dining scene.
In conclusion, my experiences at L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele have been nothing short of exceptional. Whether you’re craving an authentic Neapolitan pizza or simply seeking a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a meal with loved ones, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. I have no doubt that I will be returning many more times in the future, eager to indulge in their delicious offerings once again.
