Right off the plane we wanted to have something traditionally British, and what's better than pie and mash! We chose the place based on the good reviews and let me tell you - the Pieminister lived up to all our expectations! We had the Mothership, which is a pie of your choice on top of mashed potatoes and topped with the best minty mashed peas I've had, chunks of cheddar cheese and crispy onion. Everything comes accompanied with a boat of gravy! Our choices were Fungi Chicken pie (chicken with an assortment of mushrooms) and the Moo & Blue (beef with local blue cheese) based on our lovely waiter's recommendation. Both were fantastic! šŸ’³ You can pay by card, including the tip ♿ The place is not wheelchair accessible as there are steps at the entrance and the upper floor and the aisles are narrow. There's outdoor seating area but can't be used if it rains 🌱 Vegan and vegetarian options available šŸ”Œ Power outlet available!

My G.F. had a conference to attend in Manchester and I had the day to myself to explore Manchester. Before arriving I had made a foodie itinerary for the day and Pieminister was my late lunch destination. I got a littele lost trying to find the place and ended up at the City Freehouse tavern and stayed for a few hours for some pints. They pointed me in the right direction and I found Pieminister The place was busy but I was able to get a seat. I ordered the "Kate & Sidney" pie (steak and kidney) mother ship style which came on a bed of mash, topped with peas, bacon and cheese. The give you your own gravy boat to drown your pie in. The pie is amazing, pastry was perfect, filling was tender and lots of flavour. The "mother ship" accompanyments are a must. I also ordered their house brand beer called 5% lager. They donate 5% of the sales to charity. It was a good beer. I only wish they had Pieminister in Canada.

Pieminster, Church St Manchester Lunch with family - Pieminister Manchester - was it worth the hype? Well, I’m not a pastry lover and I was pleased to discover that the crust is very thin. The menu isn’t very extensive and my first choice as always wasn’t available, we had the pie with smoked bacon and red wine and the beef with Stilton. You can opt for the ā€˜Mothership’ which is a pie served on mash, topped with minted mushy peas, grated cheddar and crispy onions served with a small gravy boat. On the whole we enjoyed it… it didn’t have the wow factor but was tasty. We give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 as we couldn’t agree. It’s rather expensive- Ā£14 for each ā€˜Mothership’ when you consider in its basic form is pie, peas and mash. Service charge was automatically added. For 4 of us we had the pies plus 2 beers, 2 cokes, 1 had a dessert and 2 coffees Ā£94 in total.

Stepping inside this cozy eatery feels like entering a comforting retreat, where the aroma of freshly baked pies fills the air and the atmosphere buzzes with conviviality. The interior exudes rustic charm, with exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood furnishings, and whimsical touches like vintage pie tins adorning the walls.

Pieminister offers a mouthwatering selection of pies that cater to all tastes and preferences. From classic British pies like "Moo" (beef steak and craft ale) and "Kate & Sidney" (free-range British chicken and ham with leek) to inventive vegetarian and vegan options like "Heidi" (Somerset goat's cheese, sweet potato, spinach, and red onion) and "Chick'n Skawshank" (British chicken and ham with smoked cheddar and leek), there's a pie to satisfy every craving.

Each pie at Pieminister is a masterpiece of pastry perfection, with a golden, buttery crust enveloping a generous filling of premium-quality ingredients. Whether you opt for a traditional meat pie or explore one of the creative vegetarian or vegan offerings, you're in for a treat.

To accompany the pies, they offer a selection of delectable sides, including creamy mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy made from scratch. And let's not forget about the drinks! The restaurant boasts a well-curated selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and soft drinks to complement your...

It's all a bit confusing!

Went in, didn't know if to find a table or take a menu and sit so I took a menu. Sat down and my order was taken. There was a lot of items on the menu not available, both food and drinks.

Food came fast enough.

Pastry was rubbery, not crisp. I couldn't cut it with a knife and the filling was a bit tasteless if I'm honest.

I did the £10 lunch deal thats advertised, it says you have to order through the app but you can't do that, the lady said she'd sort it at the end. She did, the pie, mash and gravy was £10

I ordered a small bottle of water and mushy peas as an extra side.

My bill came to £17.60

Thats £7.60 for a small bowl of peas and a bottle of water.

A lot of money for an average pie in an environment that just felt confused, I didn't know what to do as a customer. Do I order at the bar, do they come to me? Do I asked for the bill or do I pay at the bar?

Service wise, it's those simple things for me that make or break a place.

Bland food and rubbery pastry that wouldn't cut with a knife is not on.

I know! Before I get the 'you didn't raise it with us etc. Etc. (Which i didn't)

I've given an average rating for average food! It only annoyed me when it came to £17.60 and I can hardly complain at that point, as...

They refused us just after 3 pm on a Sunday! Very rude and unprofessional!

Update after Jon replied: With all due respect, my reviews regarding other businesses have nothing to do with how your business are refusing people entry. There was a sign on the door that stated not accepting customer see your CCTV. Places that I give a 1 star deserves it, in regards to your insecure response I will start wearing a body camera and start sending businesses proof if the service or non-service I get meets their standards. I don't need your free stuff I just need you to kindly have standards. The food are nice at Pieminster I've been a few times, I am giving a 1 star for the fact that you're refusing entry to hungry customers like me, you can do that, your business is your business but my review is my review. The best review is a no review at all but if you can keep people coming back it means you must be doing something right, believe me when I say you'll only hear from me if I don't agree with the practices that I don't think...
