Panchos Burritos Arndale Market — Restaurant in Manchester

I was excited to eat here after my husband gave it a rave review but I found the tacos to be flavourless and so soggy that when picked up just fell apart. We had also ordered a child's burrito for our toddler who loves Mexican food and can even handle a little spice. He tucked in happily but after a couple of minutes started screaming and crying. We were confused as to what was wrong so I tried a little of his and it was so spicy! Spicier than my chicken taco with 'medium' salsa on it. I took it back to the staff and explained the issue only to be told that the chicken was a little spicy but much less spicier than the beef or lamb. I said that I understood which is why we didn't ask for the lamb or beef to be in his burrito. I then asked if there were any milder options that we could swap the spicy burrito for. She told me that because he had started eating it we would have to pay for a new one. I asked her how would we know if it was spicy if we hadn't eaten some of it and why would they make a child's burrito with chicken in that they know is spicy without any warning on the menu or by themselves? Her colleague then stepped in and said of course they'll make a new one free of charge but she pulled her aside and started belittling her and overruling her kind offer, the girl was a little baffled. She then said that their 'boss would kill them' if they swapped it for us. At that point I decided to walk away because if the staff were under that much threat from their superior then I was fighting a bit of a losing battle. This is the worst place to have Mexican food.

Firstly , the lady who was serving was very rude. I felt as if she rushed me whilst ordering my burrito. She could not explain what was in the chicken tinga.

Secondly , I felt rushed as she was telling me to hurry up . I have been to a lot of food places and this is the first time I was told to hurry up.

Then I was told to go to the tipping station where i was allowed 4 toppings included in the price. She was very stingy with the toppings giving a small quantity of items I selected. I asked for more topping but then she says an extra 50p for more topping. So I paid an extra £1 for a squirt of sour cream and 2 slices of jalapeños. At this point i wanted to throw the burrito at her face because of the bad customer service i have received, but I couldn’t because i did not want to waste £8.50.

Taste wise, it was bland, disgusting and the rice was hard. This is a shame because I love burritos , but this taste like garbage and a waste of £8.50. I threw it away after 2 bites. I will never go here again , and I will not recommend anyone else to come here.

I am excited for Tortilla (Mexican chain restaurant) to open in the Arndale. At least I will get good burrito there with unlimited toppings.

P.s why are you guys so stingy with your toppings. Not like you’re busy anyway.

I had come in a while ago and honestly I don’t even know how to go about this, I had asked before ordering if the food was halal, I had asked a staff who looked like she didn’t know what to say and said I don’t know and she then asked the main lady who had a red headband on and hair in a bun and looked like she was in charge, and she then looked frustrated and told us to stand in line i then asked her is it halal and again she looked annoyed which I was confused as she didn’t nod to say yes or give me a sign or anything apart from wait in line I then came to the till she asked what I wanted I asked if I was halal again she walked off and laughed at us and still not saying anything, me and my partner was confused as she hadn’t said yes or no, nothing but I actually felt belittled and extremely embarrassed from asking a simple question, which we then didn’t. Know what to do so we just walked off as we didn’t get a response but her laughing,I’ve always wanted to come to this place to shop and eat but after this experience It’s made me not even want to ever go back again the main lady was extremely rude I’m not sure if it was because I was Muslim as it wasn’t busy or it’s just how she is, it’s a shame as I’ve not even had the chance to try the food and I’m making a complaint to by visiting and leaving...
